Hi there,

My 1989 suzuki ltf-250 quadrunner is having spark problems it seems to only fire 1 bright spark when you first hit the starter button then loose spark most of the time. Other times it will spark nice and bright and run good. I have a new battery in it and it shows 11.5v while cranking and also has a new coil. any ideas on what could be causing this problem.

To start check for loose connections and wire damage in the charging and ignition system. Sounds like an intermittent problem. When it is running, does your battery have higher voltage? If so, indicates the charging system is working.

checked over all the wiring tonight and it all seems fine charging system is working fine when it wants to run. tested the power out of the ignition switch and it is 11.3v when engine is cranking wobbled all the wiring around to see if that made a differents and it didnt then after 10 min of tapping on all of the electric parts it decides to spark on every cycle of the engine. any ideas on what electrical component could cause this.

Very cool. The CDI is solid state so once it dies its dead. Probably something in the unit came loose. The Clymer manual has good testing procedures for it. That yours is intermittent is a bit odd. Id still double check your connections.

The pic below is a 93KQ Im tearing down. The connector shroud to the left is crammed full of mud. I just wonder if yours is clean and secure.

Do you have Ebay in the land of Auz? Usually a good source of used parts for me.

Bought a 88 big bear 350 4x4 took it for a run and lost spark, found it was stator so I replaced that then took it for a long run and it sat for 2 days and no spark again, this time stator tests good on ohms and voltage for source and pick up coils so I started replacing things including regulator, ignition, ignition coil and plug cap, spark plug and everything tests great including all safety switches until the orange wire for ignition coil from the cdi it only reads 3 volts so I replaced the cdi and still 3 volts, any ideas??

I have a 2009 Honda Rancher TRX420FA with shifting problems.
Usually it shifts ok when cold but after couple minutes it will stop shifting with no codes.
The 1st shift clutch oil pressure when in first gear is 74psi. The 2nd shift clutch oil pressure when in second gear is 74psi.
The 1st shift clutch oil pressure when in neutral is zero. The problem is when the tranny is in neutral the 2nd shift clutch pressure starts around 10-15psi and builds to 20psi. Is this normal?

Fixing for a friend. Atv was at a different friends house to be fixed and he rebuilt the carb and had it running nice, then it shut off and no more. He replaced the key and the coil.

So he got busy, so I am helping, I checked the wiring from the stator to the cdi, and from the cdi to the coil. All is good. I checked resistance on the pickup coil, good, and on the source coil, open. I buy a new stator (China) and the 4 prong plug only has 3 wires in it while mine has all 4. I checked resistance in the source coil and it's in the 300's. I pulled one of the old pickup wires out of the old stator and wire it in the new one. Still no spark.

Why do the wires differ, I checked the VIN again and it's "J" for the year and I got a 1988 stator. Please help!

Hello all, I have a 2006 Polaris Sawtooth with no spark. It has a dead battery but with a jump pack on it, it will still not Spark. Plug is good, Throttle ETC is not closed, Stator pick up coil seems to Ohm out in the correct range, Unsure how to properly check the CDI. And when ignition is on the Neutral and reverse light come on but after cranking just the neutral stays on.

      Any help would be great,

      Thanks!
