Advice on ATV Trailer Brand?

I also bought two new 15 inch trailer tires on Amazon already mounted on rims. BTW the Southwest wheel kit came with additional grease seals in case my Dexter axle was an older version. prompt delivery with emailed updates. The tech support guy was nice...🫦 -
I mean Grandma's freezer is rated at 45 watts@12vdc at low power & 65 watts at maz...so that computes to 3.75 amps. to 5.4 amps.

Thanks for the Info on the Kit @ Southwest Wheels! Looks like its complete as well! Nicely done! -
Foreman has an auxiliary electrical cigarette style 10 amp socket. 45 watt load. The compressor freezer i got Grandma is small enough to go in the Moose? Plus the rough ride on Foreman! Damn, I wear my mesh motorcycle jacket and and a support bra..... but iin a camper would be great!

The piezoelectric coolers barely keep things cool but the portable fridge/freezers are compressor operated and can cool down to -4F. They're a lot more expensive than the coolers but much better, and to top it off they draw less current than the piezo coolers do.

yes I was packing for a day 80 mile day ride on Forman. So what ever will fit in the Moose. So small cooler with Milk (for My rum $ Milk after ride drink) and lunch. But I am looking at the Freeze dried stuff also to try.

Well thank you! however, it came as a kit...I mean everything bearings, seals backplate, drums, spindle nut...Southwest Wheels. They have tech help which I called of course..LOL. -
For day trips usually pack a few sandwiches in baggies and ice the little Yeti cooler keeps ice for 72 hrs so not a problem and potatoe chips and gronola bars no problem, the 12v cooler should work, dont keep things excessively cold but does work i have one but rarely use it, used to use it for long car road trips but never really keep drinks cold enough for me. Now i just use insulated travel mugs Yeti, Coleman and Buckees and i think the Coleman keeps ice the longest.

The freeze dried food is a game changer. A lot of folks pack veggies. I was surprised to read about picnic food poisoning that a lot of people fail to wash them before handling and eating. Always wash melons before eating.

the enclosed trailer /storage is a real plus. I wonder how they tow with my Highlander with tandem axles? Probably i would have to use my truck. - Last week

Totally agree. LOL.. I have a Harvest Right freeze dryer I got on sale at Costco last year. My 82nd birthday present to myself. A game changer in making trail food and snacks Freeze dry and package up food in vacuum sealed bags.. Great meals and snacks, almost no weight and worry about spoilage ,

well the small cooler bags are dangerous if not packed with ice. .Ha Ha cold beer...I like milk that does not need to be refrigerated. AKA Shelf Stable milk...first saw it in Europe. Over there you could pick the butterfat content...WOW! But of course evaporated milk can be kept unrefrigerated....evaporated condensed milk was introduced commercially back in 1864 ....Can you says "Gail Borden" Elsie the Cow?

Very nice enclosed trailer. -
That is what I use for camping, keeps the food & beers cold with no ice. I have one that has a small freezer section so I can freeze ice packs to take during the day ride.

I totally agree that beer must stay cold, but for the main meal, a warm, re-constituted freeze dried meal is hard to beat out in the wilderness. A small butane or white gas stove provides the heat, and your canteen provides the water, and ten minutes of time to a hot meal. If the packaging is not compromised, freeze dried foods will handle any environment a human can endure. For disclosure: I used to work for a freeze drying company. tom

I like my 12v fridge/ freezer For packing stuff that needs to stay cold, Yes, they're expensive but far cheaper than ending up with spoiled food and warm beer.

Wow...I packed a small soft side cooler with an ice pack at -4 F and inserted my Type K thermocouple sensor inside so I could monitor the temperature without opening. After 3 hours the inside temperature was 60 F...OMG! The ice pack was solid frozen. Standard temperature for safe storage is < 40 F. What I found by asking was that there should be no air space in the cooler. Packed with Ice preferably ice from connivence store (normally 0 F of less). Food should take up short day trip1:1 ratio. Good coolers are expensive.

Yep tongue weight should be around the same 10%. Tandem axles have a few advantages, like a lower deck height because you are using 2 smaller tires instead of one big one. But then you have 2 more tires to maintain. Deck over is the best use of space if you are going to side load. I love single axles, lite, easy to tow. Easy to move around. Just didn't work for me. I ran out of storage so enclosed when the best solution for me. Everyone's situation is different. Problem with any trailer, not just single axles is being over built, or buying too much trailer. The closer you can load a trailer to it's gvwr the better it will ride. Single axles will ride rougher in general, especially when empty, it doesn't have that second axle holding the first one down.

Hey guys and gals. I've been working on my friends 2007 big bear IRS. Unfortunately after 3 different people got their hands on it and only made things worse every time. After months of finding just crazy problems everywhere. I'm finally at the point we're its almost 100% !!! But I'm getting a short somewhere between the 4xW switch I believe. I managed to by searching the internet like a fiend, got my hands on an official Yamaha wire harness for the year and make. But I don't have the numbered component list and to be honest. After hours of going through and making everything so it's easy to reference. If anyone has a picture of the referenced components. I would be forever in your debt. I've spent hours marking up the blown up diagram so it will be easy, for any possible future repairs. Please and thank you. Here's a picture of what i have so far. Unsealed it in plastic so oil and crap won't spill or get smudged. This damn things worth it's weight in gold. Thanks Jeff 2007 Yamaha big bear 400 IRS. YFM40FBW· 2 replies
