  1. I can't say myself which is better or will last longer. But back in the 80's when I worked for American performance we sold warn winches I never recall having 1 returned and I worked in the returns. What we stocked was for the 4x4 trucks and for trailers for guys who used a winch to load cars. Warn has built a name for it's self by building a good product. Another thing to think about is customer service and standing behind their product. This is a great site but I would go type in reviews for the winches your looking at buying. I have found doing a search for trouble shooting and seeing how many people have posted for help can be good. You should be able to tell the ones thats not to bright and can't operate a light switch. but read the ones where they have had them for a while.

  2. I don't know how or what it does to our quads to cause them to pop and sputter when we over throttle them in reverse. I call them stutter boxs or rev box thats what it's called on a car that puts them into limp mode. I would search for a wiring diagram for it for starters and see how the over ride button is wired in and if ties into a controll box. Sorry it's all I can think of. I'm sure with all the members on here someone will have the answer.

  3. My good friend picked up a 2012 grizzly 700 with 20 hours on it for 5,000.00 it was a repo! The ride was smoother it felt lite in the front when turning my Prairie seems like a workout. Then it came down to you wanna run'em why not was my answer he was about a quad & 1/2 in front of me and said go and took off so I had to try and catch up & pass him and that didn't happen I caught up but didn't get by him. Round 2 he didn't get a jump start & my old Prairie took the win. I think the V-Twin engine just seems to have more torque over the single cylinder. I thought for sure he would win.

  4. I like it that there is compition It keeps a company on their toes to build a better product. But to push the horse power so high is useless if you have no place to use it. On the trails I ride 36mph is about the fastest you can run before getting hard on the brakes. Just like on a MX track you only have so much room. I know some people have a place to use all that power and can enjoy it. I rather see the eps, better suspension, and cup holders lol over horse power. Now I don't want a wimpy motor either. I think it was a Kauzuma 110 my daughters e-ton 90 was alot faster.

  5. I can't see spending the money for a new quad or utv. I only gave 13,000.00 out the door for my preowned 06 Dakota quad cab 4x4. The BF750i in camo aftermarket wheels & tires eps is 15,000 at our local Kawa dealer. I gave 1,600.00 for my prairie 650 it has more power than I can use it's not as pretty as a new one but it's paid for. I don't mind using my quad to make a new path if I had 1 of them new shiney 1's I wouldn't want to beat it up they cost to much. I get a chance to see if my old prairie can hang with a newer Grizz 700 tomarrow.

  6. I hope you get it fixed soon! Good to hear it's the actuator and not the diff. I got lucky with my prairie I guess you could say my frame broke where the front A-arm mounts so I was looking for a frame and ended up getting an 03 prairie not running for 300.00 so that took care of my diff trouble, frame & left me with extra parts that I sold for 200.00 a used diff sells for more than what I paid for the donor quad and 200 was cheap for the extra parts I sold and the buyer had them sold for 400

  7. I had this to happen on my 02 prairie 650 in stayed in 4wd and the gages showed 2wd. I pulled the actuator and then added power to it and my actuator was turning but there was a small block on the actuator that was worn so I thought that was the problem the block of metal swivels on a pin it was what contacted the collier to slide it back & forth to engage or disengage 2wd & 4wd. Mine turned out to be the front diff. Now I wll say this my actuator did not get hot. I would pull it out and turn the switch on on your quad and flip it 2wd & 4wd and see if your actuator is working if you have to unplug the wires to remove it just remember to plug them back in once you remove the actuator. Or if you have a 12 volt battery charger you can use it to test the actuator.

  8. Welcome. now that the carb is clean I have shared this before there is a product called ethanol shield wal-mart sells it. Sta-bil also makes a gas treatment for the ethanol. Ethanol is a big trouble maker for our quads & any thing like lawn mowers, chain saw, weed eaters etc. In just 1 season I had a fuel line fail on my weed eater the shop said it was from the ethanol thats added to gas. Our local motorcycle shop stated the same thing. I guess it effects the compelet fuel system but on my weed eater it caused the lines to harden and crack. Some station sell gas without ethanol we have 2 but it's 3.90 gal. and only mid grade 90 octaine is sold without ethanol here in west georgia. My ethanol shield was 2.00 & treats 10gallons.

  9. Welcome to the QC. This has been the best quad fourm I have found with a great group of friendly people. I myself grew up on 2 wheelers and I got my first quad around 2yrs. ago and love it. I just traded a small quad for a bike that has turned into a project. So upon getting the bike I went searching for a fourm dealing with semi vintage Honda's and I can't find 1 that comes close to the QC. So I just share with my fellow QC friends whats even going on with the bike and they have not banned me from the site yet. I have a loop hole if they do I'll put training wheels on it then it will have 4 wheels.LOL

  10. I traded Jenns Eton 90 that she was to big for NADA was around 400.00 so if I use that as price paid and not what I gave for the quad which was 800.00 2yrs. ago. I may in the end have close to 1,000 in the bike and thats around the NADA on it. Now If my daughter likes it and rides it once the bike is done it might be worth the money I will be putting into it a little at a time but for reselling I might go in the hole. That would include a new set of rings but I don't know what it will cost to get the cylinder redone for stock size rings or bore it and go with a new piston & rings. A BBR big bore kit is 300.00 so that would put me over budget. I had priced what it needed and was at 3 to 350.00 before the timing chain.

  11. Well the trade I made my daughters eton 90 for the Honda xr100 has bitten me in the Bum pretty good. I worked today welding a crack in the exhuast & wed. I adjusted the valves the bike seem to be running good I put the pipe back on less than an hour ago and took it for a test ride and ended up pushing it home. Now I need a timing chain and I'm pretty sure rings should be on the list. Now I am pondering if it's worth the money to fix.:aargh: I shoud have put the Eton up for sell to see what I could have got for.

  12. It sounded like I was shooting a gun out the exhuast when I let off the throttle & popping thru the carbs. I thought I was going to be working on the carbs all day & then sync them so they work like they should. Well I thought I would richen them up a little first to see if that would work & there it was a missing vacum cap off of the intake where you hook up a sync tool easy fix for me and then about an hour test ride. The bad part is there may have been some foul play!

  13. I would do a search for reviews on each brand barrnett & hinson are used by most pro riders for racing and are worth the money if your racing. Most products that are used in racing is built to with stand more punishment & give better performance. For wiseco & ebc I would try and find reviews on the net and see what customers have to say. If a 89 or 99 dollar kit will work for what you need I don't see spending 200.00 dollars. If a product improves the performance it's going to cost more but that dosn't mean it will last longer than a product that cost less just do some research. And this is a great site for info out of all the members I'm sure someone has used the brands you listed.
