  1. I am moving this thread to the Kawasaki forum so hopefully you will get some help from people who own or know something about the Bayou.

I have no idea it sounds like you have check most everything. DirtDemon "Josh" is probably the most knowledgeable on the list he will probably see this and chime in. I will ask my father-in-law he is very knowledgeable too. We have had a couple of those machines they are very tough. I still have a 96 Lakota my wife rides which is pretty much the same motor.

  2. I cannot locate my manual right now but it appears that the sight glass is for exhaust valve.

I found this on another forum:

at idle, the valve should be open, through the sight glass the arm should be down.

once the RPMs increase enough to close it, the arm goes up(rod pushes it up.)

the spring adds just a slight amount of additional pressure and allows you to tune the RPM the valve closes by how far you turn the knob... a significant change can be had with only +/- 1/4 turn from 360CCW.

  3. It could be the alot of things. How does the machine run other aside from the idling problem? Has the machine been sitting for a while? If so, I would open the carb up and give it a thorough cleaning. It could have an air leak somewhere, possibly a legal crank seal, or a leak in the intake area, maybe where the intake boot bolts to the motor. Also, check the air cleaner and try a new spark plug. I would also do a compression test.

    What he said.
