1992 Kawasaki Bayou 300 4x4 - Carb Probs

Recommended Posts

Hello, I have a 92 bayou 300 with carb problems.

I believe the float is stuck as each time I try to start it fuel flows out the overflow on the bowl.

I have never rebuilt a carb before, but I am mechanically inclined to give it a try.

I can buy a complete rebuild kit with new floats seats, gaskets etc. for 45.00 or I can get a new direct fit carb for 150.00.

can anyone provide me rebuild instructions or would I be better off with a new carb.

machine ran fine for a couple of years and then I stored it with gas (stupid) and a bad petcock for a few months, since I have replaced the petcock and need to get the carb fixed.

This is a machine I use for bow hunting ( not as young as I used to be) to get me and my gear and DEER out of the timber during archery season and throughout the summer prepping for the up coming season.

Any help would be great....

Bruce

the carb rebuild is nothing really, clean, blow out carb with air, and replace parts. but it can take a couple times to get it right (cleaning). if you can spare the extra 100$, i would almost go that route because less time consuming and no real friggin around. you might even get lucky just cleaning the carb and not using the kit if everything is cleaned well ...
