Hey guys/girls. Back with a new topic and looking for some help.

Vin# 478TE1502LA211561

I believe it's a Honda fourtrax 1990?

Picked up the bike last night from an old timer. Has no spark and it's been sitting. Going to make this one a new project bike.  Needs a little work but paid less then $200 for it.

Can't wait to start this thing.

Any input on the vin would help.

Thanks.

Yes,  it's a 1990.  I  have a 1991. There  is  a  pdf of the service manual  for it  in the downloads section of the forum. I  bought  mine  used 5 years ago, and paid a  lot more than  $200....  LOL.. You  got a great  machine  if  it wasn't  abused.   They're  solid  full  time  4x4's  with  all the power all  but the  extreme riders  need. They'll  top  out  around  45  Mph if you  really want to  push  them.  One thing  you  want to  check  is the  splines on the rear  axle  hubs.  They    wear  out  over time, especially  if the  hub nut  was not  kept  tight enough.. I  had to replace  the rear axle and  hubs on  mine.  The  splines were  worn  out to the  point  ther  left  hub  spun freely  on the  axle.

Thank you.  Yes it was a steal. I found it online it was posted for about theee hours before I noticed it. Called and he said make an offer. Two hours later it was in my truck. Compression is great and motor turns good.  Just need to find out what's wrong with the ignition system but that's manageable. The bike was not beat up so I'm hoping drive shaft and drive train etc are in good working order. The person who owned it is now elderly and does not hunt any longer. Right place right time I guess. Thanks for the info  keep you guys posted with pics and updates

Here we go again !

Where did you say I can find the service manual on the forum ?

All  the   manuals   on the forum  can be found  by  clicking  Browse / Downloads . on the  list on the right  click   "and 9  more"  to  bring up the  rest of the service manuals in the list.   Here  is the  direct  link  to the  Honda  4trax  one  you want :

So here it is the $125 dollar fourtrax 300! I'm pretty deep in with the engine so far. No spark, looks like a bad stator based on the numbers I was getting back on the tester.

I ordered a new stator, ignition coil and the cdi.  Might as well go all in 😳. The service manual is a huge help. The shaft that drives the front and rear wheels is located right in front of the stator coil engine cover, although tricky but super easy once you figure out how it comes off as shown in the manual.

Hopefully a week from now she will be fired up!

Keep you posted on the rehab.

Thaks for the input and manual. As always greatly appreciated.

Quadcrazy is an understatement at this point

My 1992 TRX00 recently stopped firing.  I understand this is a common problem. I have ordered an aftermarket CDI unit.    TJ

      Background,
This winter (Dec.) I was plowing and everything just died, just quit.  No lights, no pull start, No nothing.  I've had this problem before and I changed the voltage reg and it ran fine for over a year. Then this.  So I changed it again, thinking this was the same problem.  Tried to start it and a small pin hole in the CDI appeared with electrical smoke.
Months go by and I finally decide to just replace parts (I'm Horrible at electrical issues).  I changed the stator, new CDI, new Voltage reg, new starter solenoid, tested the starter (prefect), charged the battery.
Went to start it and the solenoid rapidly clicked.  All the dash lights on, headlights work.  Pull stared it and it fired right up no issues.  Looked into the rapidly clicking starter solenoid and it was not enough juice in the battery.  Took the battery completely out and hooked up a jump box to it turned the key, light on, everything looks good.  Pushed the starter button and it fired right up ran great.  Turned it off to test it again, Turned the key and nothing.  No dash lights nothing.  Took the jump box off and pulled started it.  Started it right up.  Re-hooked the jump box, still nothing.
      Any Ideas?
