Hi all  My sportsman 800 starts and runs fine but the idle is too low so it won't stay running even when it is all warmed up.  I know there has to be an easy adjustment to this but I cannot find it in the owners manual.  Anyone know how to adjust?  Thanks

I don't think its adjustable without a special tool and the question is why is it low. I would try and clean the throttle body and check the throttle cable and make sure there is no dirt hanging it up. What year is it?

@tristan6482 Thanks for the suggestion, I changed the plugs (which was kind of a pain) and the machine still wont idle well when first started but once warmed up it stays running.  Still seems the RPMs are low but it keeps running.

What is the reading of  your tps sensor. I belive it should  be .95 volts.

As stated  in my last post the only adjustment to the idle is the tps sensor. And there is not much adjustment on that

Hey Collin thanks but I am not sure what the TPS sensor is or how to get the reading you are asking about.

Should be on the side of the thotte boady with 2 screws with a 3 wire electrical conection. 1 wire will be 5 volt reference , 1 will be ground  and 1 will be the signal wire that goes back to ecu. If you have a hand held multimeter you can check check the signal by back probing  and setting meter to lowest DC scale. Or if you don't feel  comfortable testing the wiring and  can get to the sensor easily, start the engine loosen the screws that hold sensor and slowly rotate sensor 1 direction rpms should drop the other they should increase. Be careful and do not force anything.

Happy new year. So how did you fix the idle problem? I am also having a idle issue. It will run fine but will idle for a like 15 seconds then die. It will start just fine but won't stay idling.

@Nam Repus Nam I changed the spark plugs and that seemed to help some.  Once it is well warmed up it will idle now.  I need to get out my multi meter and follow the suggestions to check the signal but since I have been doing ok as is I have not taken the time to do that yet.  Good luck, happy new year to you too!

O3 sat a while. Engine is running fine. I got it into neutral, did some general tune-up and cleaning then pulled the shifter pedal up and it locked up and will not release into neutral again.  Does anyone have experience with this problem?  Thanks for looking and any help.
