There  is a service manual  for  your  Polaris in the download section . It is in  multi-part pdf  sections .A  quick  glance   at  some of them   on the engine  and carb didn't  show that  hose  , but you might  find it  in a  more thorough read through the complete  manual.  Could it  be  the  impulse  hose  for the  fuel  pump since it ports off the  intake on the engine side of the  carb.  If there  is a separate   pulse  hose from the crankcase , you  could try  blocking that hose off and  see  how the engine runs.  With it  open  the engine would be  running  very  lean. That  looks like   a  90  degree connector  to  join to another  hose   leading possibly to  a vacuum motor  to   operate   something on the  quad.

Isn't that just a fuel overflow/vent tube?

Can't be .  it  comes off the intake  port of the  block  downstream of the carburettor. It is connected  to the  vacuum  of the intake  manifold .

I have to read better, I thought that was hanging on the bottom under the quad.

Hi All.  I introduced myself some weeks ago with my 2006 LT-F400F that needed a list of repairs including replacing the cracked generator cover.  It is back together as of last night and cranks up, idles and revs high pretty well.  Needs some fine tuning and stop backfiring at stop.
The big issue is it will not go into gear.  I reassembled the insides with help from y’all’s posts.  The transfer selector moves from H-L-R, and the foot shifter moves thru the gears and finds neutral easily enough.  Before I tear it back open, the  transfer selector on top does not move as far as the repair manual says.  The diagram shows the shaft moving something like 40 degrees between L and H and 50+ degrees between L and R but it doesn’t move that far even though it finds the indent areas and moves well.
Could this be the problem.  I aligned all the dots on the shifter gears inside and it appeared to not be binding anywhere.  I do hear the gears touching when I shift like they are trying to engage, but zero movement from the ARV
It was somewhat difficult to tell whether all the parts are installed on each shaft.
Are there better/bigger photos somewhere that would allow me to be confident I included all the washers and bushings, etc?  If I had any doubt on parts that were laying inside after the cover broke then I purchased replacements from online stores.
TIA for any input or feedback!!  Pics are from when I first took the generator cover off.

I've been tryna find a replacement intake manifold for my 85 LT250EF because it's all hardened up but i can't seem to find one. Are there any other manifolds that would fit this model. Or how should i soften this manifold. I saw that wintergreen oil would help to soften it up but i wouldn't know how long it would last. Any other tips on how to get a tight seal around the engine intake would be appreciated.

I have this bike in my shop for a customer. It was sunk completely under water and left running until it killed. I did a complete engine rebuild. Replaced all bearings, crank, oil pump, and various other components. Engine starts and runs great. It will shift up through all gears perfectly in automatic and in ESP, but when slowing down it gets to 3rd gear and the MIL "-" light comes on and stays on. No flashes or anything and it will not shift gears. Kill the engine and restart in ESP mode and it is able to shift to neutral and start over. Does the same thing while down shifting in ESP mode. I replaced shift angle sensor with no improvement. Checked oil pressures as per repair manual "74psi" and higher with higher RPM's. With no MIL codes to point at an issue. I am at a loss as to what else to check or replace. Has anyone else ran across this issue?
