2000 Polaris Trail Blazer 2 Stroke Automatic Issues

Hello everyone, i have 2000 Polaris Trail Blazer 300 I’ve been stumped on for weeks. I’m having a lot of issues starting the quad. I cleaned the carb spotless because I thought it was a carb issue and bought a new fuel line because it wasn’t getting fuel. The carb gets fuel perfectly fine now but it won’t start. The spark plug I a little worn out but it’s good enough for just one start. The only time it does “start” is when I spray starter fluid into the carb. But it never stays on. It’ll start for a bout a second then just die out immediately even if you’re giving it some throttle and the choke is on. I have no clue what I should do. If you need more information, have questions, or have any slight idea what the issue would be and how I could resolve it. Please reply ASAP. Thank you.

Welcome to Quadcrazy. What did you set the adjustment screws at? Air/fuel an shows the idle? Did you reassemble the float properly? That needle that closes off fuel to the bowl sometimes is tricky making sure it’s attached to the floats.  I’m sure your work was good on the carb but I’ve missed stupid things too. It’s clearly a fuel issue so it has to be either the carb or fuel line. I would go back and look. Also the rubber manifold that connects the carburetor to the engine, make sure it’s not cracked sucking in air. 

Before you do anything try this. Take the cap off the gas tank and blow into the tank putting pressure into the tank will push that needle in the carb down and try to start the engine. See what happens. Sounds crazy but hey I’ve done it.

@Ashton Crawford thanks man that’s really helpful!! I’ll be sure to check all those things out. I don’t know what I set the fuel air to honestly? I think 3 turns out. What should I set them too?? Also I know it’s not the line. The line is brand new and I made sure it was putting through fuel. Also the carb is getting fuel all through it. I started to think it was just not burning the fuel. But hopefully your information will be a solution!

Usually a good starting place is about 1-3/4 turns out from a snug bright position.

Adjust it as the bike is running  the more the bike revs the better. Then just lower the idle as needed at the end.

      So few months ago I acquired a 01 Explorer 4x4 (think its a 350 but not sure) 
      Anyway the owner said it started reving very high, shut the key off and still kept running 
      until finally he shut off fuel and it finally died. During the run away he said the exhaust got 
      red hot and has melted plastics to prove it. Said some thing flew out the tail pipe, I kinda figured
      it was the top of the piston. Anyway finally got around to looking at it (have a lot of other projects in the works)
      and checked the compression, Shows about 40 psi. Can hear air coming out the carb while rotating the motor over. 
      Gonna pull it apart eventually, don't hear any noises or binding in the stroke, You think the piston came apart? 
      any horror stories of these and is it worth my effort and money? Don't really have any money in it yet. Thoughts? Az

      I have a 2011 850 Sportsman.  Has been absolutely trouble free except for 1 thing. I am on my 4th. ignition switch. I don't know if it's that they are all chinese junk or what.  It gets to a point  when you turn the key and it will act like the battery is going bad. Cranks real slow or not at all. Put a new switch in and its fine. New one will last 1 1/2 - 2 years and its junk. I've had the Polaris brand and after market. As a matter of fact the original one lasted the lest amount of time.  Other than that it's been a perfect machine . No electrical problems. No battery problems. Just curious if anyone else has had the same issue.

      1987 YFM350FWTB 350 4x4 Big Bear when going uphill will sometimes act like the clutch realeases then re-engauge all at once.
      Seems to maybe be little more often if the engine is at about 1/2 throttle instead of at lower rpms.
      I have the Factory Service manual and checked the external clutch adjustment screw as ok and the H/L/reverse shifter lever linkage as adjusted correctly. It appears to be maybe a internal (inside the case) clutch issue or ??
      This is the type Big Bear that has the manual shift lever on the left front fender and has the manual foot shifter lever with 5 speeds forward.
      Can someone tell me how the primary and secondary clutch operates? 
      I assume one is mechanical and one is centrifugal. (what I'm asking is one clutch for the higher rpms and one for the lower rpms or ???. (the clutch appears to only momentarily release at the higher rpms is why I ask. The cycle has about 3000 miles of low speed through the brush hunting and has been well maintained, oil changed, etc and no deep water or mud useage.
      Anyone been into a similar issue with the big Bear ATV????

      Hi, I’m a 16 year old that is wanting to get more into vehicle and mechanic repair. My dad has an old ‘96 Timberwolf that he doesn’t remember running since I was born. I want to get it running again as a memory for him and to help us be able to hunt together, and of course so I can learn how engines work more than the little information I know now. I’ve pulled the carburetor and gas tank off of it, and the carburetor is getting cleaned by a friend. I can post photos of the condition it’s in later, I’m just curious where I should start in my journey to get it running again. The power switch is broken off of the handlebar, so I am looking into fixing it, along with the pull cord. I’m afraid the engine is seized up, and I’m curious to hear any input anyone has.       I have a 2000 Polaris Sportsman 500. The Speedometer got water inside of it and it sat for a long time. So now that speedometer is trashed to say the least and i need to find a replacement. I don't want to put up the cash for an oem one so i was wondering if anyone knew any good speedometers out there i could use. I've found many speedometers i like but don't know how i'd wire it up without the same connection points. Thanks, any input is appreciated

      I've already posted here once about this ATV. Lots of people suggested i check the cam and after a couple months i finally got around to attacking it. I got it all apart and got the cam/rockers out. I'm almost positive they need to be replaced, they're pretty scored up and don't look too hot. Just wanted some final opinions before i drop the money on it. I'll also take feedback on the new cam i've chosen.

      Hey all new member so I'm sorry if this isn't the correct place to post, but I'm having trouble with a 2000 polaris magnum 500 I just acquired. The quad ran when I got it but was having problems that sounded like the camshaft, and sure enough camshaft lobe was pretty much gone, so we replaced the camshaft and exhaust rockers and now the quad doesnt have spark. We had the quad running right before we tore the old camshaft out and now no spark. Anybody else ever have a problem similar? We've been checking for loose wires, checked grounds, and double checked timing but cant get it figured out so any advice would be appreciated! Thanks
