Shifter problem on 93 Quadrunner 250 LT-4WD

I've got a problem with the shift lever returning to the centered position, and it seems the same either upshifting or downshifting. It goes in to all the gears ok, but does seem a bit difficult to get in to gear sometimes, but every shift you have to tap the shifter with your toe either up or down to center it before you can shift in to the next gear. The people we bought it from had only used it to plow their driveway in the winter for several years, and had only used 1st and reverse for a long time. I've tried lubeing the cable ends and the shift lever pivot, but doesn't seem to help. Any ideas?

Thanks Mech, yep the lever on the case moves like it should when the cable's disconnected. I disconnected it from the shift pedal as well and the culprit is definitely the cable. I'll try and flush it out and run a bit of cable lube through it and see if I can get it to move smoothly.

And yeah, if the cable looks ok on the outside(no worn off outer)wash it with water and work it to get dirt out if it doesn't look like it's been oiled. If it has been oiled then wash it in petrol or kero.

Is the shifter rubbing the plow lever or mount?

On my 93 with manual plow I had to bend the shifter away from the plow mount to prevent it sticking against the plow parts.

Probably not an issue with a winch operated plow.

Finally getting around to a follow up on this, unfortunately this machine kinda got back burnered and is still in the corner of the garage due to other carb/ignition troubles. But we did come up with a cure for this shifting issue, this is a nylon lined cable, and the Suzuki replacement is surprisingly NOT CHEAP! So we got a serviceable used cable from powersportsnation, that is much smoother than the original. But it still doesn't always completely center when shifting and we're hoping that when we get it running better and ride it around it will loosen up a bit more. My thoughts are that the internal spring on the shaft is a little weak and that's causing part of it, so we just put a couple of "helper" springs on the foot lever, and that seems to have cured it.

I'm working on a 2002 Polaris Sportsman 400 with shift indicator problems. The indicator panel only will show Neutral and Reverse. If it's in High or Low, the indicator will show "R".
I have replaced the three position indicator switch on the transmission. There is also a two position switch on the tranny that I didn't replace. If anyone is familiar with this problem, please let me know what I need to do. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hisun 700 EFI. Replaced TMAP sensor had broken off . Fuel pump pressure 41psi. The only way I can keep it running (and runs fine) is to close off fuel return line.

This thing came with a cheap aftermarket carb on it the problem I'm having is it won't start with choke installed into carburetor it will start and get run without it installed then bogs out after about 2 min run time I've checked timing , compression, checked valves for proper clearance , also did a smoke test for air leaks found none.

I have this bike in my shop for a customer. It was sunk completely under water and left running until it killed. I did a complete engine rebuild. Replaced all bearings, crank, oil pump, and various other components. Engine starts and runs great. It will shift up through all gears perfectly in automatic and in ESP, but when slowing down it gets to 3rd gear and the MIL "-" light comes on and stays on. No flashes or anything and it will not shift gears. Kill the engine and restart in ESP mode and it is able to shift to neutral and start over. Does the same thing while down shifting in ESP mode. I replaced shift angle sensor with no improvement. Checked oil pressures as per repair manual "74psi" and higher with higher RPM's. With no MIL codes to point at an issue. I am at a loss as to what else to check or replace. Has anyone else ran across this issue?

'Gidday.  An issue I can't find discussed already - my Bear Tracker selects into 1st gear fine. Selects other forward gears fine too but all above 1st gear are slipping. Can select reverse but nothing engages/happens.
Any ideas what I might be dealing with?
      Cheers,  Jim.
