hey all looking for some guidance on my KQ just replaced stator, and regulator on the quad and after putting all the plastics back together and finishing the snorkel kit she has no spark when i check voltage on the power wire going into ignition coil im getting about 12v and if i crank it im not getting my "peak voltage" (80v) any help would be greatly appreciated

thanks , Nick

You should check for trouble codes as a first step.

To check the ignition system (if there are no trouble codes indicating a faulty crank position sensor) you should check the coil's resistance, which should be 0.1-0.6 Ohms from the terminal to the ground, and 12-19K ohms from the spark plug lead to ground.

Then you check the peak voltage when it's cranking over, and with the coil connected, and that should be at least 5v. That 5v though is only an instantaneous pulse and you need a good gauge to read that. You shouldn't get 12 volts to the coil.. That tends to suggest the computer is playing up or there's a wiring problem. If the book you are reading says you should get 80v then you might have the wrong book.

If there is no 5v pulse then disconnect the plug at the ECM and check the wiring between the coil B/W wire and terminal 7 for open circuits or shorts to earth or power, and check the W/B wire to terminal 1 for the same things.

The book most certainly says 80V

Quote: Ignition coil primary peak voltage: More than 80 V

with that said ....where is the fix??  why cant people that asked for help ....post their fixes?  This is the whole reason people end up here. We search a symptom and read these forums.

Just some friendly advice on new tires. Check with your ATV dealer.
There are so many aftermarket sites, Revco, Royal Distributing, Partzilla, and on and on. Even with their “ big sales”, my local Canam dealer’s REGULAR price beat the tire prices of the 3rd party sellers! People often assume the Dealership will cost them more, but I found this not to be true!

My 1992 TRX00 recently stopped firing.  I understand this is a common problem. I have ordered an aftermarket CDI unit.    TJ

      I have a 1990 Honda fourtrax 300 2x4
I rode the other day for 30-45 min. Switched it off and now it is completely dead..
battery is fully charged, fuses are good . WILL NOT TURN OVER ,
headlights won't turn on , No neutral, reverse or oil temp lights . Electrically it is completely dead !!! I replaced the key switch and CDI box , STILL NOTHING.
I bypassed the neutral safety switch and grounded it to the battery and still nothing !! I used a jumper wire on the starter Solenoid , the motor will turn over but not start . I even bypassed both fuses and straight wired it to see if I could get a neutral light or headlights still nothing . What could it be ?
