2008 polaris 50 outlaw cant get to idle

polaris 2008 50 outlaw automatic: got the 50 for free. would only run with chock on, replaced the carburator with new. I can't get the unit to an idle where the machine doesn't move forward. if I do get it to idle down within a few moments it will die. got something to try?

A few things i might look at, it possible you might have air air leak between gasket, that would cause a lean condition, it shouldnt be dirty if new, you might check the mixture adjustment screw, also check jet needle to make sure it is stable and in tact in the right clip position.

If it starts easy and will idle for a few minutes before dying then I'd suspect the idle mixture needs adjusting.

I'd strip the old crb right down though, take every brass bit out, and clean it all and then put that back on. The originals are nearly always better tuned than some generic carb made and tuned for any small bike.

If it won't idle after the mixture adjust I'd check for air leaks at the inlet manifold. If it has an auto lube I'd check the pump isn't over delivering oil as well.

I thought the outlaw 50 of 2008 was 4 stroke, am i wrong.

It just sounded like two-stroke behaviour.

Your right it does sound like finniky 2 stroke behavior, a little suprized replacing the carb made no change. Probably does need an adjustment.

If it's got a rubber inlet manifold you want to inspect that for splits. They mostly split on the end where the carb fits in.

I agree with Mech here! Nothing better than an OEM carb. The original is a nice litlle carb fairly simple and straight forward. i would take the original all apart inspect good for any abnormalities, clean really well put back together with the new gaskets and see how it does.
