Thank you I appreciate the advice 
i did look at some of the connections I couldn’t find anything wrong with connections  does anyone have a good wiring diagram and troubleshoot charts 

Also if I unplug the small black wire that comes from the harness to the starter solenoid  it doesn’t stall any ideas what that wire does ? Or is for ? 

And it doesn’t always stall just randomly when you turn battery is good also getting 14.4volts when idling   When turning it drops to about 12.6volts this is all while idling

That sounds like  there is a bare spot  t5hat  shorts momentarily.  That would explain the  stall  and  voltage drop..  There should be a service manual  for that quad in the forum's download section. 

The  black  wire may be from a safety switch to  prevent the starter from  running when the quad is in gear.

Gwbarm  I’ll attach a picture it attaches to the ground then goes into the wiring harness

davefrombc I looked I couldn’t find a manual on this atv 

I unplug it to see if it would start in gear and it wouldn’t

and ok I’ll try to trace it this week some time

The closest manual I could find is one for a 2008

So I checked my grounds, I took the main ground completely off and turn the key to on and it still has ground the lights come on also  display I unplugged that power steering ground wire near the power steering unit and it still has ground as soon as unplug it at the battery it has no ground That means there’s a short in that wire somewhere, right ? Or am I missing something?

Could you take out the front fender and remove wire harnesses from their normal routing to see if you can still touch/turn without the engine getting killed?
