i was talkin to a guy that told me on my 400ex that i should have the flywheel cut. has any one ever done this? ive never heard of doin this. he said that he could do it or he knew a guy that would do it. does any one have any opinions on this?

from what i have read it really doesnt add hp it just makes it rev quicker... i also read somewhere that it can cause idle problems on some 4 strokes... i would do some searching before you do it...

did you notice any big difference? had any problems with it?

quicker revving, faster acceleration. not by much, but it's something better than stock. it would cost you like 85 bucks to have it done.

Every 2 Smoke Ive owned in my adult life I have Cut the Fly......Extremely noticeable in a Two Stroke....My Buddy a few yrs back did it to his 350X(4 stroke) Had a Tough time at Idle....But we worked the bugs out and it does rev a bit quicker....IMO, Not as noticeable as a 2 smoke....

I would say Dont do it Until you have nothing left to do....

I'm sure this has been tossed around on here numerous times but with the unveiling of the new KTM fuel injected 2 stroke. Could this be the first step in a come back for my beloved double ding ding machines. Ok lets hear it. Why do you like one or the other??? Myself, I always felt it was the throttle control and Powerband response with the 2 strokes. I know this sounds weird but on a 4 stroke, no matter size or model. I always felt like i was along for the ride instead of in control. I've spent hours on my buds 400EX, even took a new 450r for a spin. before they discontinued them. Blasters, Banshees, and a number of 125's, 250's and even one late 80's Honda XR250R... Results all the same. For me its a comfort and control that im used to with the 2 strokes.... and i love the smell of bean oil... So lets hear it. Im sick of arguing with same two people at work on this issue.

I’ve got a 2000 400ex with a dg slip on muffler, it came with he stock muffler on it but the previous owner had the dg in a box so I put it on. I’ve been riding it for the past month and a half and every time I let off it backfires, and the other day the backfires got way louder, 2x louder! I’m concerned that I may hurt my motor? Why does is backfire??? Thanks

My name says it all. I have a '03 Honda Sporttrax 400EX with a new aftermarket carb on it that seems to be having issues. I can start it but it idles really rough and when I give it throttle it just kills the engine. I have tried adjusting the idle screw but to no avail. I am in the San Diego Ca area.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated. I would also like to get an owners manual for the thing too but can't seem to find a downloadable one.

So I’ve got a 2000 Honda 400ex absolutely love it!! I’ve had it for about a month, I ride with bruteforce 750’s, outlander 850’s and 1000 sxs’s and I was thinking of getting a trx450r carb and a full hmf exhaust. And probably doing the air box mod too, how much power would this give my 400? Just a little different or a big difference? Cuz if it’s not much of a different I’ll just stick with my dg slip on..... thanks!

Hi guys, so Im i cam across this pretty nice quad. Its a 2003 400ex. Its priced at a little over $1,000. The seller states that it was previously rebuilt and has a hot cam in it. However, it is not firing. He says that it turns over and has spark. He also redid the wiring harness and still couldnt get it to run. I have some experience with quads from previously owning one.

My thoughts are its either something witht he wiring harness(cdi, kill switch...) or it isnt getting the right amount of fuel(needs carb rebuilt) or it's the valves. Or could it be timing? What do you guys think? Let me know!

I have attached a video so you guys can see how it sounds like. I feel like it wants to start but is missing something...
