well got some bad news....brought the polaris to the dealer. they looked at it, drained the counterbalancer oil and saw it was milky, turns out the pump for the water cooler leaked into the counterbalancer unit and did something to it, he said the engine would need to be taken apart 200 dollars, and then buy 700 dollars worth of parts, and thennnnn put it back together for another 200, sooo my uncle and i are taking it apart ourselves and if there diagnosis is correct we are either rebuilding ourselves or putting a bigger motor in it....so the project is going to be delayed for another couple months

***UPDATE*** got the engine out of the polaris and got the rear swing arm bearings replaced front boot installed, chain installed, put new engine mounts in... hopefully rebuilding the motor:realmad: is the last thing i need to do on this frigging thing. But was able to get some new/used parts off of ebay and craigslist, new clutch cover, a-arms, and a k&n air filter save me a great deal of money:yes:....

here are some pictures...with the motor out i got real into the cleaning...

BY THE WAY, ARE THERE ANY CHEMICALS I CAN USE TO CLEAN UP THE ENGINE A LITTLE BIT. I USED ENGINE DE GREASER, BUT SEEMS LIKE IT IS STAINED WITH DIRT...IF NOT HOW MUCH WOULD IT COST TO GET THE MOTOR BEAD BLASTED??

I've got a 1995 220 Bayou and the electric start does not work.  When I got it the machine was pretty rough but I was told it ran less than a year ago.  The key switch had been cut off and wires  twisted after the key was lost.  I bought a new ignition switch and repaired the wiring and it is working correctly.  It is in neutral and the neutral light is on when the key is turned on but I get nothing when pressing the start button.  I verified there is no voltage going to the starter from the solenoid.  The fuse in the solenoid is good.  Something I found that is odd is that I get positive voltage(12 volts) to the brown, black, and white wires that run into the solenoid when the key is on.  That doesn't make sense to me but I could be wrong.  I would appreciate any help I can get. Thank you in advance.

I bought this from a buddy to plow snow up in the North Eastern Washington- its been getting oil in the water and I've been changing the oil often and adding collant as necessary-
I've taken the stator cover off and I'm looking at the Oil Seal and water pump seal and they look good- Although I've ordered a factory oil Seal I'm looking at putting it in this afternoon-
I don't have the factory service manual- am I suppose to Add RTV to the Stator cover Gasket? I've seen some folks suggest grease other suggest RTV?

Any suggestions here- I'm trying to reassemble it tonight- I looked at downloading the manual but need to get up to 10 posts firsts it looks like-

I appreciate any suggestions- normally I'm a jeep and honda dirt bike guy- but  I got a good deal on the quad and a plow so I went for it
Its got a bit over 3K and runs pretty good- but I've had her tore apart for 3 weeks to figure out the oil in the coolant issue.

So.. it a weird one.. The quad surges as you go down the road. By the looks of my tracks, it's one wheel only. High range, low range, 2 wd , 4 wd.. It just doesn't matter..
You can see in the pictures the marks it leaves. That was in a straight line, with hardly any acceleration.
      Any ideas?

Ok guys Ive got a few more for ya.
      TIRES:
Ive thought about getting new rubber for the wheeler it has some half worn down 25" Kenda executioners on it and Id like to get something that maybe rides a little better and does as good or better in the mud if thats an option. Any tire model suggestions? Also I would like to go to a 27" or mayb e even a 28" are there any disadvantages to doing this would I have to change anything on the wheeler to make up for the larger tires? Ive had a couple people tell me that they would be hard on the clutch.
      WHEELS:
Ive seen some really nice looking aluminums but not sure they are tough enough to handle trail riding...Are they??? If so what would you reccommend, id like a little off set to give it a slightly wider stance and better stability but a buddy has a set of ITP wheels and the rear is offset a lot compared to the frnt and it looks great but hes constantly getting the back wheels hung up on trails
      SNORKEL:
I see that the airbox on the brute is where a normal wheelers gas cap would be, so that being said am I good to go with water as long as it doesnt go over that point os is it not sealed up to the box? Also how about the belt and it staying dry, do I need to do anything to ensure that it doesnt get soaked and leave me stranded.
Oh by the way I love this thing the more I ride it the more Im glad I went with the powerhouse, Ive run with a couple polaris 500s 700s a grizzly 660, and 700 and a couple rincon 680s that were built and they cant touch my stock 750, although she likes her gas thats for sure i got about 50miles and Im needing a refill

2022 Sector 550, 414 miles on it and the gas gauge reads empty.  I topped off the gas and it didn't change.
There is no fuse that I could find.  No access at the gauge cluster.
Wiring on the top of the tank looks good, properly connected.
Could the sending unit in the tank be stuck or broken?
Has anybody removed the tank lid?  Any tricks?
      Any other ideas?
      Thanks for any help,
      Clyde
