Hello everyone, this is my first post to the forum. I have a Honda Fourtrax that will not start when you push the start button. no kick start. However it will start if you jump across the two posts on the sylenoid. thus far i only sprayed wd40 into the start and kill switches. any suggestions?

My guess is that it is either the start button itself, the wiring that goes to and from it, or the solenoid is not working anymore. I would start at the solenoid, if you have power at the low current feed wire (the small one) on the solenoid when you push the start button, the solenoid is your problem. If not, I would start at the battery and trace back toward the solenoid and see where you lose power, that will be where you find the problem.

I had the same problem with my 300EX. I bought a brand new solenoid and that did nothing. After that I pulled the starter off and cleaned it out (I had a bad O-ring on the starter, so water had got in). Has worked perfectly ever since.

Does the solenoid clock when you push the starter button? If so, then the starter motor is the problem, plenty of new ones on eBay.

If no click then it’s either the solenoid or the starter button or wiring between the button and solenoid.

I am unable to find a wiring diagram for this UTV.  When I turn the switch to on, the contractor does not engage.  The Brake pressure switch and the parking brake switches work correctly. What else should I be looking for?  All of the diagrams I have found are for newer models and the wire color coding is different.

      Thanks

I have a 2009 Honda Rancher TRX420FA with shifting problems.
Usually it shifts ok when cold but after couple minutes it will stop shifting with no codes.
The 1st shift clutch oil pressure when in first gear is 74psi. The 2nd shift clutch oil pressure when in second gear is 74psi.
The 1st shift clutch oil pressure when in neutral is zero. The problem is when the tranny is in neutral the 2nd shift clutch pressure starts around 10-15psi and builds to 20psi. Is this normal?

Just getting into this issue really. Been replacing solenoids but now I'd like to track down the problem. This time I'm not getting neutral/reverse lights or start button. Was on a creek ride when it started doing this recently. It cranks by arcing the solenoid and gives me no light or start button but if I crank with the pull cord....the neutral light and the button work. Turn it off and try to crank with the key and nothing. I'm looking into the safety switch issue tomorrow and re charging the battery. Just figured this was odd enough of a problem that you guys might be familiar. Thanks

Hey guys, so I've been messing with my quad, and between all the starts, the battery is dead. Is there a certain way to charge these? Can I just throw a trickle charger on it and call it a day? can i also jump it like a normal car with a battery pack or is that to much voltage
