Hello every one, I am new to this forum and need a little help trying to get my 96 Yamaha 350 Wolverine started. I'll start at what I've done. New battery, new starter relay. Checked connections for corrosion, all seem fine. I use it mostly for plowing snow. Use a winch to lift blade. winch works great. I have power at the relay because i can start it with a screw driver if i half to. Neutral light works. Oil pressure light works. The oil pressure light goes out when you press the starter button. But no clicks, nothing. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

If you are jumping it at the starter relay, and the starter cranks....I would start by checking your start buttton. Also, you may want to check the nutral safety switch and there's another swith at the handlebar I believe.

Checked the switches, and wires and all seem fine. Handle bar switch is working. Started it with a screw driver, while it was running hit the starter and it ran for a couple seconds, but wouldn't work again. Thought it might be the neutral safety switch. Don't have a wiring diagram to be able to check the switch. The neutral light works properly, don't know if those 2 switches are related. Thanks for the help so far.

I'm not too familiar with that model but you might try setting the the parking brake if it has one or pulling in the clutch if it has a manual clutch. By using the screw driver your probably bypassing all the saftey features it has.

Use a multi meter to track down the opening in the circuit. I still suspect the starter switch or neutral safety switch. Trace the path of the starting curcuit from the battery to the starter, you should be able to find the correct wires by following back from the wires that come out of the start button or key switch. The circuit will run through the neutral safety switch at some point so you should be able to find that too. You can test the start button by taking it apart and manually touching the two wires together. If that doesn't work, just keep moving down either wire untill you find the problem.

I am unable to find a wiring diagram for this UTV.  When I turn the switch to on, the contractor does not engage.  The Brake pressure switch and the parking brake switches work correctly. What else should I be looking for?  All of the diagrams I have found are for newer models and the wire color coding is different.

      Thanks

Fixing for a friend. Atv was at a different friends house to be fixed and he rebuilt the carb and had it running nice, then it shut off and no more. He replaced the key and the coil.

So he got busy, so I am helping, I checked the wiring from the stator to the cdi, and from the cdi to the coil. All is good. I checked resistance on the pickup coil, good, and on the source coil, open. I buy a new stator (China) and the 4 prong plug only has 3 wires in it while mine has all 4. I checked resistance in the source coil and it's in the 300's. I pulled one of the old pickup wires out of the old stator and wire it in the new one. Still no spark.

Why do the wires differ, I checked the VIN again and it's "J" for the year and I got a 1988 stator. Please help!

      Hi all,

I am wondering if any of you have a Clutch Starter gear from a 1988 era quadrunner 250 sitting around that you could get me a precise measurement of the outer diameter of the race the sprag engages onto, for me? I need to machine a damaged race down and install a hardened sleeve and need that measurement (it's on a different gear than the OEM one, so I can't buy and use a OEM gear).

Just getting into this issue really. Been replacing solenoids but now I'd like to track down the problem. This time I'm not getting neutral/reverse lights or start button. Was on a creek ride when it started doing this recently. It cranks by arcing the solenoid and gives me no light or start button but if I crank with the pull cord....the neutral light and the button work. Turn it off and try to crank with the key and nothing. I'm looking into the safety switch issue tomorrow and re charging the battery. Just figured this was odd enough of a problem that you guys might be familiar. Thanks

Hey guys, so I've been messing with my quad, and between all the starts, the battery is dead. Is there a certain way to charge these? Can I just throw a trickle charger on it and call it a day? can i also jump it like a normal car with a battery pack or is that to much voltage
