There are access holes on the front and back of the cylinder head. Take the cover plates off and you will see the end of the rocker where it sits on the vavle stem. At the end of he rocker arm you will find a small set screw with a nut around it. Back off the jam nut and turn the center screw to adjust the valvle lash. When the lash is set, hold the set screw still and tighten the jam nut. Double check the adjustment when you are done. I don't know what the lash settings are, you should be able to get that info from a dealer tech. However I think it is alway best to have a repair manual for anything you work on, it will also have the valve lash settings in it.

Hi all. I have a timberwolf 250 2nd that will not start.. I thought it was out of time bc the guy I got it from said it just quit on him. The tensioner had a nut welded to it and it was like2 teeth off. I installed new tensioner and chain and it still will not start. It has fire and it will not hit off brake cleaner. It has compression. Haven't put a gauge but I'm sure it will crank and run with what it has. I double checked my work and it's still in time. Spot on. Both valves move. I'm about to put a feeler gauge on them and I'll cone back but other than that any ideas?

I know this is long shot but, would anyone know where I can find a good used or new original carb for a 2000 YFB250 Timberwolf 4x4.
Every Yamaha dealer I look at on line, it says not available. I have tried 2 aftermarket carbs, and they suck, I would like to find a used original if possible.
And I have another question. Everyone says about Chinese aftermarket stuff is junk, Where does the aftermarket stuff come from when the original in from China ????

1st problem, Does anyone know where I can find a stock carb for my Timberwolf, I have tried two different aftermarket carbs and they both suck. The machine runs great until it gets good and warm, then it keeps stalling unless I feather the throttle. it will even stall while I'm trying to go from 1st to reverse or vise versa. I took it to a buddy of mine who is a bike mechanic for years, and he told me try to find a factory carb. When I look online from dealers it says "NOT AVAILABLE" anyone have any suggestions ?

2nd, The small tab on the rear axle for towing is to short for even pulling my small yard trailer, I can't even turn a little bit and hit hits. I tried making an extension which worked great as far as length, but it bends the tab and then the extension drags the ground. I have an idea of what to do to fix it, but wanted to see if anyone else has had this problem and see how you solved it.

Will not go into 1st but if ya go past will go into maybe next gear. Will not shift into reverse. I have see others say that the shift cam assembly dowel worn or fall out. How do I get to this? Do I need to break case in half?

      thanks for your help
