  1. Doing this for the first time on the old 2011 Grizz 700 and have a few q's? I've found valve clearance specs as such... Intake 0.09–0.13 mm (0.0035–0.0051 in) Exhaust 0.16–0.20 mm (0.0063–0.0079 in) If anyone can confirm that'd be great. I've been told to adjust the valve clearances to the top of the range in anticipation that they will tighten over time. This sound about right? Are these the only two o-rings I'll need to replace? Both #18s in the schematic... Yamaha ATV Parts 2011 GRIZZLY 700EPS 4WD HUNTER - YFM7FGPHA CYLINDER HEAD Diagram And finally, which of those two valve covers are the intake and exhaust? Also, was wondering about replacing my two gear box oil drain plugs and engine oil plug with the magnetic Gold Plugs. But at a price of $60 I'm wondering if they're actually worth it. Do people regularly find metal bits attached to these plugs? Thanks
  2. A week ago I could not even get close to starting it. But now I adjusted the valves (exhaust valve was not closed). i got it running but would not run without choke. i adjusted the float because it was to low tried starting it up again and it would not even start. So i went back and looked at the valves and the valve was now open again so i adjusted it and it started right up and ran perfect without choke. So i put it all back together thinking it was ready to go. Started it up and let it run for a little bit. i turned it off and tried starting it again there was NOTHING. took it apart and there was 0 compression and the exhaust valve was open again. I am completely lost need help PLEASE!!!:aargh:
  3. I have searched all over and can't find anything on how to adjust the valves on my sons 2007 Polaris sportsman 90. Has anyone done this? Anyone have a manual for the 90 showing how to do it? I need to get this done pretty quick, since he has a ride coming very soon. Thanks. JD
  4. what should the play be on the valves on a 2013 outlaw 50 and does any body have a service manu for them yet just wanting to know about the valves so i can check them when my son get its broke in dont wanna pay the labor rate for the dealer when i all of my work my self
  5. :aargh:I need a little help figuring out a vavle tightening problem im having with the bike. I adjust the valves with a feeler gauge, start the bike and ride for about 10 minutes then its starts to run really rough, check the valves and their now too tight, so i adjust them again run the bike for about 5 minutes and the bike starts to bearly drives now, check the valves and their too tight again...Now this happens to both intake and exhaust at the same time and approx the same amount of change. Also sometimes i go to start the bike after it starts to run rough (adjusting the valves back out because now thier to tight) after a couple pulls and it doesnt start i go to check the vavles again and they are wayy too loose, causing the bike to not start..Some how the valve timing/gap keeps changing..Could this be a cam or timing chain problem??They both looked good after visual inspection.Cant figure it out and need some help, any help is greatly appreciated, thanks.
  6. I need to put new valves both on intake and exhaust side bc my valve lash clearance was 0. In order to put new Valves in, can I use old shims or do I need new ones? New springs also?
  7. I bought a good running 01 warrior for cheap sounded like it just needed a valve adjustment. Got it home started to check the valves and ugh oh the jam nut on the intake valve is gone. I checked and checked but could not find it. Could the ticking noise I thought was a bad valve adjustment be that nut rattling around somewhere ? Is the next step to start taking the engine apart in search of a nut? For all I know the previous owner took off the nut and lost it. Unlikely but possible. What shall I do next?
  8. hi 2001 yamaha warrior 350 thought valve ajusted took off cover intake and nut on top was off valve. lot cam out looking nut find it drain oil no nut both side cover no nut now take motor out frame start take it apart has one had this kind program help tell where nut is thank you
  9. Looking for some info on adjusting valves on my timberwolf 250, any help or info appreciated. Thanks Wayne
  10. I just bought an 88 quadrunner 250 ond it would have trouble starting sometimes. I figured the carb needed cleaning. I cleaned the carb put it back together, drained all the bad gas out of the tank and put fresh gas in it. when i tried to start it all it would do is crank and not fire off. the carb is getting gas and there is spark. tried putting gas in motor and a little in the spark plug still no firing off. i took the valve cover off and turned the motor but from as far as i can tell neither valves is moving. unsure if the valves just froze or just need adjusting. It was running when i bought it a few days ago but he sayed it was hard to start some times which makes me think it had asticking valve problem. Any help would be appreciated thanks.
  11. Anyone know how to remove the intake valve lifter assembly without completely disassembling the entire motor?
  12. Anyone know of a good thread about adjusting the valves. I noticed Saturday when I took my son riding that there was a noticeable loss of power in his recon. Ive replaced the plug and it was running fresh gas. Im going to adjust the clutch in the morning, but I am leaning more towards the valves since Ive had to adjust them on my suzuki and my daughters yamaha in the past, for the same reason. I have no experience with honda and I wanna make sure Its done right. Thanks in advance.
  13. Hello all.....Brand new to the site......Been fun reading other peoples problems My problem is I am installing a new Head/Cam/Cover on a 99 TRXFW. Before you ask I do have a manual......The book states "line up the "T" mark and adjust.......Make sure you are on the compression stroke"........If the cam has been removed how can you tell if you are on the compression stroke and not on the exhaust stroke? My worry is I will install everything and it will be 180 out.....Can anyone help me?

  16. Mornin Boys, We all don't use the stock oil filters, so here is something to remember, info from Mobile One Question: Reason for Check Valves in Engine Oil Filters What is the function of a check valve in engine oil filter? -- Shafeeq Bandagi, Bloomfield Hills, MI Answer: The check valve function is used to prevent dry starts that could occur if the filter was allowed to drain dry during standing. It also serves to ensure that oil is always present in the filter, especially when the vehicle is started. I use the Purolator PL14610 oil filter, not the P14610. that one don't have the check valve in it. I also use the Mobile One 0-40 oil and any good synthetic tranny fluid for the tranny. The only thing I use from Polaris it the front Hilliard tranny fluid, There are a few good oil filters you can use, just make DARN sure it has the check valve in it. Our oil filters are on the side, not the bottom,,
