alright here's the deal. I bought i 2004 kodiak for a great price but i has some issues that i need help with.

the first is the atv shows a random MPH while setting still and it changes when you start moving but is by no mean accurate. shows something like 5 MPH sitting still and like up to 25 MPH while moving in low range.

the second is the atv shutters in reverse and won't back up. it idles fine in reverse but when you give it throttle it shutters like it would if you were backing up too fast and the speedo shows somewhere around 10 MPH but i'm not moving.

could both these issues be related to a speed sensor somewhere? any help is greatly appreciated.

Could be alot of things, the speedo problem could be the speedo itself, a fault in the wiring, or whatever sensor the speedo gets it's input from. As far as the problems being related, that would depend on what is causing your machine to shutter, does it seem like a mechanical problem that is making the machine do that in reverse, or does it seem like the motor is cutting out? It sounds morel ike a mechanical issue from your brief description, and the fact that the machine doesn't move makes me think it is a problem with the gears not engaging or something is broken or slipping in the reverse gears. If the motor is cutting out, they could be related I guess. I would start by inspecting all of your machines wiring, look for damaged wires and loose connections. Could all be just because of one loose ground wire somewhere. The more you find out and post here, the better we can guess as to what is causing your problem. Good luck.

Start inspecting your wiring, if the same problem is causing both of your symptoms, this could be like chasing down a ghost. Hopefully you can find the problem quickly. I would strongly recommend getting a repair manual with a wiring diagram, there will be lots of valuable info in there as well as some troubleshooting tips. Good luck.

My 450 kodiak is having same issues... reverse shuttering and random screen display. What did your issue end up being.?

I used to own a Kodiak 450. What type of reverse shuttering, is it with diff lock on? Does the override do anything?

Hi guys, I have a 2004 big bear 400. Last winter while plowing the driveway, I heard a loud pop from the left side of the engine. It continued to run as I looked for leaky fluid, but then died shortly after backing it up and won’t start now. The oil light comes on when I try to start it, no noise or anything else.
No blown fuses that I can find.

      Hi all,
Looking for some help on a starter/bendix issue. Can Am outlander 450 2017. While cranking to start, the starter spins and engages into the ring gear. After a few seconds the bendix retracts while still spinning and there is no damaged teeth on the drive pulley.
