I'm trying to check the valves,it just wont run right. I line up the crank mark, then check the cam sprocket mark, cam mark is at 8 o'clock. Is this correct ? Sure does'nt seem right. The owner (my friend) has not bought a S/M ,so I am checking here. Any help ? Thanks.

That sounds about right, there should also be a mark on the cam carrier that the cam gear mark lines up with, and when its all lined up the 2 outer cam lobes should point towards the back of the atv.

No,no marks on carrier. I downloaded a manual and it says nothing about cam gear marks, just crank. But,when at tdc,the sprocket bolts are behind the frame rails ! Only way to get at em is to rotate crank ,then I can get socket on them. Weird ! Honda engineered this ? Does'nt seem right. But I only have .005 clearance on ex. valves,so they gotta be changed

I got it,no prob. Now I have to fgure out why it wont idle without the choke ! I have cleaned the jets before. What else would cause that problem? TPS ? ...

I suppose the TPS could be the problem, the other possibility is that the pilot screw is not adjusted properly, or, when you cleaned the jets, you didn't clean the rest of the carb, and something else is clogged up, probably in the pilot circuit. Any time you clean a carb, you need to take the whole thing completely apart and clean every little nook and cranny. I am guessing this is a TRX 450R? I think that is the only 450 Honda made in '07.

Just some friendly advice on new tires. Check with your ATV dealer.
There are so many aftermarket sites, Revco, Royal Distributing, Partzilla, and on and on. Even with their “ big sales”, my local Canam dealer’s REGULAR price beat the tire prices of the 3rd party sellers! People often assume the Dealership will cost them more, but I found this not to be true!

I just bought a 1984 Suzuki LT185 ATV and am looking for the OWNER’S manual. ( not a service manual)
I contacted Suzuki Canada but they have no paper or digital copies in their archives.
Does anyone possibly have a digital copy they’d be willing to share?

Maybe someone has the answer to correct a long cranking but did start after maybe 10 seconds?
Temp was mid 70's, with ATV not run for maybe a month but on battery maintainer with full bat charge noted.  The atv started, but then died a couple times after repeated attempts.  But when run awhile everything was ok.  Although when starting now I do hear the fuel pump humming but seems to take a few ,"long" seconds before full prime pressure.
Is this typical of a failing fuel pump?
I've priced a replacement fuel pump on eBay for less than $40 so am tempted to simply replace it for good PM.  Just had all covers off so looks really easy to replace.
      Any ideas?

I picked up this ATV that had no spark. The previous owner said he was driving it and it died and would not start. He discovered it had no spark. He replaced the CDI and the coil with no luck. He got tired of it and I bought it. I replaced the stater and now it has strong spark. Now, it starts for a second or two then dies. It will not stay running. I have checked the timing and it is spot on. The valves are adjusted correctly. I see no warn issues with the cam. I put the original CDI and coil back on it. Same problem exists. Compression is at 65 psi (has decompression mechanism),
I took off the muffler in case the issue was clogged pipes. No change. I replaced the spark plug. No change. The carb was an aftermarket so I put a Niche carb on with no change. I bypassed the fuel pump and that did nothing to solve the problem.
I don't know if this is a carb issue or an ignition issue. I am looking around locally for an OEM carb to try out but not sure that will fix the problem.
Can anyone help me solve this problem. I am running out of ideas.
      Thank you for your time
      Bill
