2003 Kawasaki Bayou 250 Backfire

Bike will start up and run but it has a popping going on with it, sounds like bike is backfiring. Have tore the carb down 2-3 times now and cleaned all jets, when trouble shooting one time I took some starting fluid while bike was running and lightly misted the front boot area where the carb attaches and the rpm's increased.Thanks any help would be appreciated,Edd

Have you checked your choke operation and spark plug?

It sounds like you have a leak in the air intake duct. Check for cracks or loose clamps. I would also make sure your air filter is clean and is good shape with the lid on correctly.

That"s it ,Intake leak ,replace the rubber intake manifold , where you sprayed the stater fluid .That should take care of problem .

first of my friend there is no such bike as a yamaha bayou lol

check your air tube and if that isn't the problem check your cdi what i've seen is it will start and pop as soon as you give it a little gas it get worse till it stop or the other thing you might want to check is your lean setting put your hand over the carb and block it off if the motor speeds up you are to lean

You know what they say when you get older the mind is the first thing to go, don't know how I got yamaha out of kawasaki.How would I go about checking the cdi to see if my problem is there.Thanks,Edd

Sorry guys, that might have been my quick editing...although I only added the model... I changed it to Kawasaki. I used to own a 220 myself. Not sure what I was thinking not catching that lol...
