We have 2 stroke & 4 stroke now a few co. KTM for one is doing a electric bike maybe. Why not a small diesel & and some bio-fuel. If a vw can get 40 somthing mpg. just think what we could get with a quad. Can we get that with a turbo please. Utility & UTV would be cool. Then in the real world I don't think people would go for it & the price would sky rocket.

A quad with a turbo would be cool, although i think electric is the future, once the batteries get better with more capacity gas will be a thing of the past  Plus theirs no engine maintenance with an electric vehicle

Tagels just like my rc cars their is just more of a cool factor of hearing the 2 stroke over my electric even if the up keep is more on the gas & the brushless is just as fast if not faster. It would be weird riding a elect. But we do have the ability to adjust.

Electric engines !! sounds good but in my future!!

Wonder if my local law enforcement would pull me over in my neighborhood if I were riding an electric atv. There would be no noise to make the neighbors made riding in stealth mode.

And different controllers, different power curves different continuous and burst current limits. But then best thing is not having to deal with jetting and oil and gas and every other thing thats annoying about gas engines!

Just picked up an 84 LT185 ATV, I understand there was an accessory add  on that gave it electric start, anyone have any info about that kit?

      Background,
This winter (Dec.) I was plowing and everything just died, just quit.  No lights, no pull start, No nothing.  I've had this problem before and I changed the voltage reg and it ran fine for over a year. Then this.  So I changed it again, thinking this was the same problem.  Tried to start it and a small pin hole in the CDI appeared with electrical smoke.
Months go by and I finally decide to just replace parts (I'm Horrible at electrical issues).  I changed the stator, new CDI, new Voltage reg, new starter solenoid, tested the starter (prefect), charged the battery.
Went to start it and the solenoid rapidly clicked.  All the dash lights on, headlights work.  Pull stared it and it fired right up no issues.  Looked into the rapidly clicking starter solenoid and it was not enough juice in the battery.  Took the battery completely out and hooked up a jump box to it turned the key, light on, everything looks good.  Pushed the starter button and it fired right up ran great.  Turned it off to test it again, Turned the key and nothing.  No dash lights nothing.  Took the jump box off and pulled started it.  Started it right up.  Re-hooked the jump box, still nothing.
      Any Ideas?

I got a 2005 350 Raptor Special Edition and I'm dealing with a no start issue; the weirdest thing is when I'm cranking it fires and slows down showing signs of pre firing, smoke shoots out the carburetor every time it sparks. every electrical part (CDI, Rectifier, Stator, Coil) has been swapped out from previous owner, the top end of the engines all new and I cleaned the carb out, anyone got any ideas or similar problems, also is it possible to have a bad spark timing

I've got a 1995 220 Bayou and the electric start does not work.  When I got it the machine was pretty rough but I was told it ran less than a year ago.  The key switch had been cut off and wires  twisted after the key was lost.  I bought a new ignition switch and repaired the wiring and it is working correctly.  It is in neutral and the neutral light is on when the key is turned on but I get nothing when pressing the start button.  I verified there is no voltage going to the starter from the solenoid.  The fuse in the solenoid is good.  Something I found that is odd is that I get positive voltage(12 volts) to the brown, black, and white wires that run into the solenoid when the key is on.  That doesn't make sense to me but I could be wrong.  I would appreciate any help I can get. Thank you in advance.

This topic is being opened to discuss the feasibility of forced induction on small engines.
