1997 Yamaha Kodiak 400 Parking Brake

My question is: if the 1997 Kodiak 400 has a parking brake, where is it and how do I set it?

Not sure on that one, but some I have seen have been just a lever on the foot brake to keep it held down, or the hand brake alot of em have the lever to keep the hand brake on.

Hey Pete59Edsel! You were right! Its on the front-left hand brake and its a little spring-loaded l-shaped piece that keeps the hand brake on. I must have looked at it a hundred times and never saw it. Thanks a million! (it works too).

Im afraid that since Im a beginner with these things Ill have more guestions than answers. Ive been riding motorcycles since 1962, but this is a whole new ball game! Anyway thanks for your help.

I agree with you the quads are so different from the motorcycles. But just as fun to ride.

Yes, left front hand brake and it should lock. You may even be able to start in gear if you hold it down....

Thats how mine is. pull in the brake lever & you can start it in gear!
