Hi, I am new to quadcrazy and I am having problems with my new arctic cat. I just bought it at an auction today. It started at the auction but before the auction was over someone left the key on and the fan ran constantly and killed the battery. Is the fan supposed to run constantly, even if the motor isn't hot? So since the battery was dead, I bought a new one since I thought the battery was pretty old. It ran fine. I loaded it in my truck and took it home. When I got home, it wouldn't go into gear and now when I push the start button, it would even try to turn over. I checked the fuses with an electrical tester and not all of them work, however all of the fuses are good. Can anyone tell me what the fuses go to that are under the seat. They are not listed in my owners manual. I am not getting power to my 30 amp fuse either.

swampcat07 is the best guy to talk to about cats on this site. i wouldn't think the fan runs constantly, and sounds like its locked between gears, if you pull the rear brake lever in, it should turn over. also check your kill switch and look at all the wiring that leads to sensors, like a neutral safety switch. i have a service manual for the 2001 line up if you want it and look at it in the meantime, should be fairly close to your bike.

For a Monday it may take a while for my brain to get moving again.

Off the top of my head:

The fan should have a sensor in the radiator to turn it off and on, I know for sure it does on the newer models located in the radiator and the earlier ones had an oil temp switch. In your case it may be located in the cylinder head assembly but I am not sure if that controls the overheat light and the fan or just the overheat light.

Get meter readings and check the connections of the ground on your battery and where it connects to the frame. Then check the ground on the engine and where that connects to the frame.

Check out this file from the FTP 0486-076.PDF It shows the temp sensor and how the ignition wiring is laid out.

Finally is it an auto or manual?

Hi all.  New to the forum & quads.  Seems like a great place full of info.
I just recently picked up a 2005 Suzuki KingQuad LTA700.  I need a battery.  I've been reading up on conventional vs AGM types.  I have a Royal Distributing and Canadian Tire.  RD has 2 types avail for my year/Model a battery YTX16-BS CRANK $75, and BATTERY YTX20CH-BS YUASA $140.  Neither of these is the type from the manual FTZ16-BS.
from what I can tell... I think the only difference is the capacity with the $75 unit rated at 14 AH/10HR and the $140 unit rated at 18 AH/10HR ... which is the rating in the manual for the FTZ16-BS.  How much does this make a difference for nearly x2 the cost?
And about the models/type numbers.... what is important to know ... they all end in "-BS" but are the other details relevant or just manufacturer naming?

The battery on my Big Bear drops completely down in the battery compartment nothing sticks up to grip too, plus there is only 1/8" clearance along the sides, no way to get a grip on it to pull up out of battery compartment. I thought about putting a piece nylon strap under the battery and leaving enough up each side to give me something to pull it up out ff the battery compartment or using a big zip tie around the battery.
Any others have any ideas or have had this issue.
