Hey guys my father in law was bugging me to take his 3 wheeler home and fix it (get it out of the yard) so finally i said i would. It sat around outside for 4 or so years. New plastic gas tank, cdi box, spark plug wire, new carb from ebay, stripped all the old sh** that wasnt working off, changed the oil, and thats pretty much about it. Finally i got her going and for the most part it ran fine. It seems after a while it just wont start agin. New gas and a clean out in the carb usually solves the problem. Im not to familiar with a carb. I wont remove any jets or needles or anything cause im not too sure how to remove them or put them back. Anyways some small issues to start. I cant remember if the choke is on up or down, it kind of blows out black smoke for a while and then seems to go away, and the screws (2) on the carb i cant remember how many turns in or out, the idle screw seems like it needs to be adjusted all the time. If its at perfect idle the next time i go to use it it seems like the idle is too high again. but if i turn it out too much i beleive i have a hard time starting it the next time. In order to start it i usually have to pin the throttle, not sure if thats normal. For the most part this trike is awaesome and im glad i chose it as a project but I dont think im quite finished yet. Anybodys opinions would be appreciated or some suggestions as to some better parts or anything.

Thanks

Bought a 88 big bear 350 4x4 took it for a run and lost spark, found it was stator so I replaced that then took it for a long run and it sat for 2 days and no spark again, this time stator tests good on ohms and voltage for source and pick up coils so I started replacing things including regulator, ignition, ignition coil and plug cap, spark plug and everything tests great including all safety switches until the orange wire for ignition coil from the cdi it only reads 3 volts so I replaced the cdi and still 3 volts, any ideas??

Fixing for a friend. Atv was at a different friends house to be fixed and he rebuilt the carb and had it running nice, then it shut off and no more. He replaced the key and the coil.

So he got busy, so I am helping, I checked the wiring from the stator to the cdi, and from the cdi to the coil. All is good. I checked resistance on the pickup coil, good, and on the source coil, open. I buy a new stator (China) and the 4 prong plug only has 3 wires in it while mine has all 4. I checked resistance in the source coil and it's in the 300's. I pulled one of the old pickup wires out of the old stator and wire it in the new one. Still no spark.

Why do the wires differ, I checked the VIN again and it's "J" for the year and I got a 1988 stator. Please help!

Hello all, I have a 2006 Polaris Sawtooth with no spark. It has a dead battery but with a jump pack on it, it will still not Spark. Plug is good, Throttle ETC is not closed, Stator pick up coil seems to Ohm out in the correct range, Unsure how to properly check the CDI. And when ignition is on the Neutral and reverse light come on but after cranking just the neutral stays on.

      Any help would be great,

      Thanks!

My 1992 TRX00 recently stopped firing.  I understand this is a common problem. I have ordered an aftermarket CDI unit.    TJ
