My 1987 Trail boss will start with choke on, and then the choke must immediately be taken off to get the engine to run for 5 seconds only. If the choke is reapplyed when the engine is shutting down after burning its 5 second gulp of fuel from the choke, it will run for another 5 seconds and so on. I have removed and cleaned the carb twice without finding a problem or improving the problem. Each time I remove the carb, the bowl is full of fuel. Compression is 95 psi. It is only running on the fuel provided by continually applying the choke!! HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think the rubber carb adapter between the carb and the cylinder may have had a crack in it! After taking the carb on and off three times, I noticed the adapter was actually ripping apart. I just got a new adapter Friday, but haven't installed it or tested it. I'll let you know. I hope the adapter resolves the problem. John

I've installed the rubber adapter, and it runs and idles without the choke!! I'm heading north with it for the holidays and will give it a good workout. We have 5 quads up north, and they drive me nuts keeping them all running right. I'll let you know if the adapter was the fix. John

Wow...I packed a small soft side cooler with an ice pack  at -4 F and inserted my Type K thermocouple sensor inside so I could monitor the temperature without opening.  After 3 hours  the inside temperature was 60  F...OMG!   The ice pack  was solid frozen.   Standard temperature for safe storage is < 40 F.     What I found by asking was that there should be no air space in the cooler.  Packed with Ice preferably ice from connivence store (normally 0 F of less).  Food should take up  short day trip1:1 ratio.
      Good coolers are expensive.

I am unable to find a wiring diagram for this UTV.  When I turn the switch to on, the contractor does not engage.  The Brake pressure switch and the parking brake switches work correctly. What else should I be looking for?  All of the diagrams I have found are for newer models and the wire color coding is different.

      Thanks

Just getting into this issue really. Been replacing solenoids but now I'd like to track down the problem. This time I'm not getting neutral/reverse lights or start button. Was on a creek ride when it started doing this recently. It cranks by arcing the solenoid and gives me no light or start button but if I crank with the pull cord....the neutral light and the button work. Turn it off and try to crank with the key and nothing. I'm looking into the safety switch issue tomorrow and re charging the battery. Just figured this was odd enough of a problem that you guys might be familiar. Thanks

We rode here the day before the event. This is a DCNR state forest trail system. The story behind the name is miners would put their bottles of whiskey in the local springs to keep them cold until their shift was over. Part of the trail system is on old strip mines so some areas are barren, others are full forest.

Just picked up an 84 LT185 ATV, I understand there was an accessory add  on that gave it electric start, anyone have any info about that kit?
