2004 Suzuki LTZ-250 - Driveshaft Spinning

Hey guys,

I have been riding ever since I was a kid, almost every day since 1990. I got my LTZ-250 in 2004, it has been riding great, but I will admit I beat on it pretty bad (I am an aggressive rider.) Anyways, something happened to it today, the driveshaft just keeps on spinning. I took a video of it to illustrate it better which is the link below, please comment below telling me what happened to it and it will help me so much! So that was in neutral, correct? Looks like something is up with the clutches.

Well it was in neutral when I started it, of course, but I shifted it into 1st and went behind the ATV.

If you shifted it and it did not engage, sounds like a clutch issue or tranny issue. Is there an adjustment?

Cant find any adjustment on the atv, I did shift into 1st and it clicked right into it, the driveshaft is moving, however, the axle isnt as you saw. I wanted to thank you for your help. Really do appreciate it, kind of lost.

Does the axle spin faster as you rev it up in gear? if so, there maybe be something wrong with the rear diff.

Yup, it definitely spins faster, would you know what part to get or do I need to bring it in?

Unfortunately, it sounds like the rear diff and if you are not inclided to take it apart and have a look see, you'll need to bring it in. Maybe someone with more experience can answer differently, give it a bit to see if you get some more responses on this thread.

Rear diff was a weak spot on the Z 250 and the Ozark to.

Yup, Something broke in the diff. What happens if you push it while running like that? If it does NOTHING different I'd suspect a broken pinion shaft. Time for a rebuild.
