Dont worry too much about the engine. Slip on, jet kit etc... Simple stuff. Learn your quad 100%! Worry bout technique and adjust the suspension you have now. Check out other 400s and see what they run as far as shocks. Learn how to adjust them properly. Dont be a copycat. Know exactly why your adjusting the suspension and know what the effect of that adjustment

I raced last friday and saturday morning bought a sway bar. A friend told me i wouldn't need it but once i got one id definitely feel the difference. i don't know if its because I'm so much lighter than him but even with leaning almost completely off of the seat it still wanted to tip on me.

I bought a durablue sway bar, but since i have shorter shocks in the front the down bars are too long and the torsion arms are tilted up. will that matter?

So.. it a weird one.. The quad surges as you go down the road. By the looks of my tracks, it's one wheel only. High range, low range, 2 wd , 4 wd.. It just doesn't matter..
You can see in the pictures the marks it leaves. That was in a straight line, with hardly any acceleration.
      Any ideas?

The studs in the sprocket hub are stripped out. The hub is probably walloed out also. Probably will have to have a new sprocket hub. I doubt I have the ability nor the tools needed for this job. Thanks for all suggestions/opinions!

Hey guys, I’m new to the forum. What I got is a 2001 Yamaha Bear Tracker 250, got it as a project on trade and the problem I’m dealing with is a “no spark” problem and been trying to hunt down the cause for two weeks. I’ve replaced the stator, pick up coil, CDI, wiring harness, ignition, coil pack, spark plug, solenoid, battery, etc. and I’m still not getting any luck. Even tried bypassing the kill switch. I also noticed two things on this quad, another CDI under the back plastic by the voltage regulator, and a blue and green wire coming from the motor behind  the foot shift, tried to hook it up but it broke off and I’m thinking the broken wire would cause it to have no spark, if not then I need someone’s help on this and wanna see if I can get spark again. If anyone knows why I have this problem, the help would be greatly appreciated.
