Air filtration, prechargers

I have a stock and very dirty Yamaha foam air filter surrounding the internal canister/carcass (I don't know what those are called, since Yamaha doesn't even bother to name the thing inside their service manual).

I purchased a 490 mile used - 2007 Wolverine 450 SE last week and the new filters, oils, chemicals arrived yesterday, from AMSoil & DennisKirk. I am handy enough with tools and 'stuff' to be able to handle routine vehicle maintenance.

A service manual is often required, and I'm good to go.

However, when shopping for replacement air filtration @ DennisKirk's online location (specifically for my 2007 Wolverine) one of the things which intrigued me was obtaining a K&N precharger. The K&N air filter element itself was $60 which in hindsight might be a good deal. I dunno - I'm a n00b to purchasing gear for an ATV. But it sounded like the precharger might be a decent $26 investment to further filter out microscopic chaff before feeding air to the carb.

My only question is...where does something like this precharger fit over? Surely not over the foam filter (I purchased a Uni 2-stage, which I will have to oil up myself). My guess is K&N precharger is to slip over the outside of the perforated canister, which the foam air filter also slides over? It's going to be a very tight fit even there.

I've searched the entire forum for any existing threads which might discuss this topic, and found nothing. The Yamaha service manual is barely helpful; they are about as helpful as pc computer instruction booklets I've used for the last 20 years.

Is anyone using one of these precharger bags, or is this overkill and I as a n00b just selected & purchased something I don't really need? Wouldn't be the 1st time.

Also, what do you folks prefer? The gauzy cotton filters like the K&Ns or the foam filters? Pre-oiled or do it yourself?

Thanks

So I have an 89 Yamaha moto 4 250cc and when I ride it, itll get hot after like 10-15 mins and then will just die and turn off.
It's has new carb rebuild, new air filter, new battery, new spark plug so I don't think it's a crack in the spark plug
      Can anyone help me?

      Gday all,

Been trying a couple different ways now to download a manual. Not sure what I am doing wrong but could someone walk me thru it?
I go to DL page and click on link
get a pop up for a PDfixer or something
close that and then hit download button and no go
tells me I have reached my limit but I have never DL anything ever.

Hello, im looking for some input on this situation i have. My 94 Mojave has no spark, and i have no idea what it is. Ive replaced/tested the magneto, the pickup coil, cdi, the ignition coil. Even the key and Killswitch. I haven't tested the harness its self, but i have tried another harness and still nothing. The only thing i can think of is the fly wheel itself. I have found a lot of metal shavings in the fly wheel and have cleaned it the best I could. But nothing happened afterwards. I am truly stumped here and hoping some of yous could shed some knowledge/ideas that could help get this thing to fire.

      Hey I have a 1997 big bear 350 4x4
I replaced the shifter shaft and the shift arm linkage and the rod when I installed them all I was unaware that you had to line the dot on the shifter shaft with the gap on the linkage arm gap put it all back  together and rode it I can't get it to shift in the right gears  I can move the shift cam by hand and goes in different gears but with the shifter shaft in it riding I can't put it in R or N
Anyone know how to line up the shifter shaft and the shift cam s
