1988 Yamaha Big Bear 350 4x4 - Spark Plug

Recommended Posts

I took my 1988 Yamaha Big Bear 350 4x4 out for a ride today and it started to miss fire, it starts great, sounds great at idle, but at high RPM it starts to miss fire.

I want to change the spark plug first, can somebody recommend a plug? What would be the best plug to put in it? I was thinking an NGK DR8EIX

Does anybody have the procedure to adjust the carb?

what should I check if it isnt the plug??

My front dif is leaking oil pretty bad around the yoke. I completely pulled the whole dif from my bike and now stuck trying to get the yoke unbolted from the dif body. There's a large nut in the center of the yoke and I've tried using impact wrench and not budging. The nut and bolt kind of looks like it has a crimp spot made to keep it from backing off the bolt I guess. Does that sound right? What's the easiest way to remove it? Just soak with some type of lube and try again with the impact?

Here's what just came out of the old '11 700 Grizz...

The pics indicate some kind of build up on 3 surfaces...the base ring, and on both the electrode and ceramic opposite where the strap attaches. What condition does this suggest?
      Also, this article...
How to read Racing Spark Plugs - Dragstuff
indicates since there's no color change in the middle of the ground strap that there's some type of temp problem. Or does this not apply as the article is talking about racing spark plugs?
      Thanks

Somehow I lost all of my spark on my 350Big Bear, its a 1990. It ran well for maybe 3 days! Thought it was the carb. Cleaned it 4 times. It was losing power at midrange. Got worse and worse. Finally nothing!
Are these good coils? I was thinking I could swap?
