there is a little metal tab on the needle hook up. if you tip the carb upside down and measure from the outer flange of the carb to the top of the float, should be 1/2" give or take. i had trouble with mine too, ripped it apart 8 times or more before i got it right ,,,

Hey... I might break your record of ripping it apart when its all said and done

here is an update... I am getting closer, it just barely leaks now out of the drain line.. so closer i reckon... It was not idleing at all.. till I messed with the needle.. now it takes off like its full throttle what would cause that to happen? Maybe the thottle cable needs to be adjusted?...

I was reading in the diagram for these atvs... I am thinking its called the pilot jet as far as i can tell by the diagram looks more like it anyways then the other things in the diagram, I am not familiar with the names of these parts though.... but anyways if it is the pilot jet it has a small spring on it and a small washer and a small 0-ring rubber... and it screws into the bottom beside the bowl it is not in the bowl though just beside it.. takes a straight small screw driver to turn it... Anyways from what i was reading in the parts manual.. it says to be sure you count how far it was turned out before you remove it.... well I did not know that till now...lol..... I am not a atv mechanic ... do you have any ideal about this.. as far as how far it turns out when tight?

Pilot jet controls your idle to 1/4 throttle sound like your talkin about A/F screw ( air fuel mixture ) Turn it all the way in and back out 2 1/2 turns or so and see if that makes any difference !

I just bought a 1984 Suzuki LT185 ATV and am looking for the OWNER’S manual. ( not a service manual)
I contacted Suzuki Canada but they have no paper or digital copies in their archives.
Does anyone possibly have a digital copy they’d be willing to share?

I am trying to diagnose a no spark issue with my 02 Big Bear 400 and I am really hoping it is not a CDI.  I have done the test on the stator and I believe that is faulty.  I ordered a new aftermarket one from a the jungle website and it tested bad right out of the box so I am waiting for a different one to arrive from an ATV parts supplier.  I started looking out of curiosity at CDI units and it seems if it is for a big bear you are SOL.  Kodiaks, no problem.  Big Bear. No such luck.

Hey all, been a while since my last post and can't find anything exactly like I'm experiencing.
I have a 1996 Polaris Xplorer 300 and have fuel consistently (based on my opinion) drip from the overflow tube attached to the bottom of the carb. When parked and the fuel petcock turned on, it does not leak. However, once its running, it drips almost 1 drop per second. But only at idle. Once rpm's increase it doesn't drip.
I've cleaned the carb, checked the float per service manual, and the rubber needle tip doesn't appear to be worn.
Is this dripping normal? I really dont feel it should be. Or, do I need to replace the needle despite how I feel it looks.
      Any help would be appreciated!
      Thanks!
