i just purchased a very used 93 big bear 350, rebuilt the carb, changed all the fluids and got it running, everything seems to be working fine, but the reverse light stays on constantly, and the neutral light refuses to come on, all the bulbs work, i checked them with a 9v battery and some jumper wires.

i have the service manual and am trying to make sense of the wiring schematic, but im not an electrician. i have tested voltage at all the wires for the lights and im getting 11.7 - 12.3v at both the brown and the blue. i don`t know if there is something im missing or if a previous owner rewired something wrong. seems to me though that one of those wires should be a ground and i should just get continuity, not voltage

i am working my way through the harness, disconnecting, cleaning, greasing, and reconnecting everything and so far everything looks good, just dirty.

i just purchased a very used 93 big bear 350, after a few nights of rebuilding the carb, adjusting the brakes and changing fluids it seems to run just fine after the last two owners let it sit for who knows how long.

im working my way through the wiring now, and have a few issues:

the reverse indicator light stays on constantly, and the neutral will not come one at all.

neutral bulb works, i tested it with a 9v. i put a multimeter on it and i seem to be getting between 11.7 and 12.3 volts on both the brown and the sky blue wires with key on and engine off, and yes, the gearbox is in neutral and the switch inside seems to work.

just wondering if anyone else has had this problem and if anyone knows what might be my problem. im am going to continue to big through manuals and schematics and see what comes up

      Following on from this thread;

I've finally got around to pulling the clutch cover off to have a look at the shifter ratchet mechanism. The screw holding the pinned star wheel has come loose and the wheel flops about. Unfortunately the keyway on the shifter cam has broken on both sides, I found both pieces.
      Anyone had this problem?
The keyway on the cam "ramps" out, so I'm thinking of making a slightly longer key with a ramp ground into it. I'll put it back together with retaining compound. It may not work but I think it's worth a try.

I put a new carb on my trx500fe which I have done before on other models, but this foreman was a real pain, takes forever to get to the carb. Anyway I got the new one installed . I also changed the choke cable while I had it this far. When I turned the gas back gas started running into the air filter box. I did have trouble with the choke cable, it didn’t seem long enough to run where the old one did and the elbow that came with the new carb had more of a 90 on the angle. It didn’t feel like it was binding but I don’t know if the valve was seated on the valve seat. The choke pushed in smooth but who knows what happened in side the valve body. I don’t know if this could be the problem or not I hadn’t run the it just turned the gas back on. Appreciate any help, hint, hint Mech and GW or anybody else. Deer season is over in a little over a week. My power chair won’t make it down those muddy roads. Thanks again.

      Hi,
I have an 04 bear tracker, with a minor starting quirk. It starts in gear with brake in.  Neutral and Reverse lights work.
But when trying to start in neutral, there is no click or attempt to start with the push button.
However if i pull up on the shifter (not hard enough to shift into first though) the neutral light goes off and the start button works and it starts fine.
All gears shift fine with no issues,  has anyone seen this before?  Just wondering if it is a bad sensor or something needs adjusting.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

I bought a bear tracker off a friend who said it last ran a year and a half ago. He was going to use it, went to use it and it wouldn't start. He took it to the dealership, and they told him it needed $1200 worth of work one of the things being it needed a new stator.
I bought an aftermarket stator and in put it in, rebuilt the carb and changed the oil filter, installed a new petcock and gave it a new battery (voltage is 12.8) and oil.
I turn the ignition on and I see a green N light on. I turn the ignition switch to run and push start and I hear the click of the solenoid and the starter cranks but the 4-wheeler never turns over.
I have pulled the spark plug and have ground it to the motor housing. I try push run, but I do not see any spark from the spark plug, not even once.
What should I look to next? I can't for the life of me find a CDI box on my model. If I do it must look and be at a different location of where I am looking, nor can I find a CDI at any parts store which leads me to believe my model doesn't have one.
Please excuse the ignorance as I am new to this, but I do have a rectifier and ECU that I do so.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, I just don't know what readings I should be getting from the pickup coil, stator, ignition coil, etc.
Thanks in advance for any assistance you may be able to give!
