2003 Suzuki Vinson 500 - Troubles ~ HELP!

ok, so I have a decent knowledge of quads and small engines as I worked with them all summer in Oklahoma. However I am stumped on what to do right now. I received a four-wheeler from a buddy who asked if I could clean his carb as he thought the float was stuck. So I did. when I put it back on it worked pretty good. Im pretty sure the starter is bad so I have to pull start it but I did pull start it and it fired up first pull and ran pretty good. however now it will not idle at all soooo im thinking jets? also it dies quickly unless I put my hand over the air intake and "choke" it and it will rev then. ive been readin about a vaccum valve or something? is that the problem? alllso my solenoid clicks and ive light tested it and I believe it is good but starter doesn't even think about working soooo bad starter? I just don't wanna waste a bunch of money buyin stuff and that not being whats wrong with it.

Any suggestions will help me out, thanks so much for your time guys.

i would clean the carb again, take all the jets out and blow it out with air. for the jets, get a twist tie and strip the plastic off to run it thru. there is an air/fuel mix screw too. tighten it all the way in, then let it out 2 1/2 turns. make sure all the vacuum lines are on too. as for the clicking with solenoid, i would take the battery leads and clean them shiny, all the way to the starter for best results. throw a new plug in just for snicks too ...

ok.. so I cleaned the carb again really good. and adjusted what I thought was the idle. it was a flat head top needle right next to the float cover on the carb. I put everything back on and It started up and now it goes on its on at about 4 mph without me pushing gas. also when I ran it before I could get about 40 mph really quickly now I can get 20 mph very slowly. and when I turned it off it back fired like a boss. there is one hose that's not connected on the carb but I thought it was a valve that just is for overflow?

I have been exploring all the options available, so many, its hard to choose. I have kind of narrowed it down to the Honda Pilot, Subaru Outback, and Kind of looking at the Outlander, although its a little small,  the new one is nice looking. Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations or gripes with any of these rides. I have driven Jeeps for the past 25  years and they have been great, but their price point has gotten to high. Expieriences good or bad would be helpful. Thanks!

      Hey all!
I'm on a mission to buy my first UTV soundbar as a gift for my dad(a newbie on ATV). I'm aiming for something that offers great sound quality without breaking the bank – my budget is around $250. Right now, I'm considering options like ecoxgear, kemimoto, and boss.
Does anyone have experience with these brands or specific models that you'd recommend? Any advice or suggestions would be super appreciated!

      Hi everyone,
Outlander 2006 400 XT i have replace the startor cover and right after i did that the oil light is on and not turn off, i check the wires and checked the oil level, everything seem to be normal quad is starting without any problem and rev just fine. i did not want to ride it since im not sure if it is faulty sensor or not so just be safe i did not let it run more the a minute or so.
I have read in the owner manual that i need to clean the oil strainer every 200hr unfortunately i never did that, my service manual that i have does not even indicate of such a thing. so i did some search around and it seem like canam split the manual into 3 parts
      owner manual
      service manual
      engine manual
I have the first 2 but i can not find the last one, part number 219100232. If someone can guide me where do i find the oil strainer so i can clean it i will appreciate it.   im going to do an oil pressure test tomorrow to check how many PSI i have, just to make sure.
      Thanks
