  2. yes I was packing for a day 80 mile day ride on Forman. So what ever will fit in the Moose. So small cooler with Milk (for My rum $ Milk after ride drink) and lunch. But I am looking at the Freeze dried stuff also to try.
  3. Well thank you! however, it came as a kit...I mean everything bearings, seals backplate, drums, spindle nut...Southwest Wheels. They have tech help which I called of course..LOL.
  4. Today
  5. For day trips usually pack a few sandwiches in baggies and ice the little Yeti cooler keeps ice for 72 hrs so not a problem and potatoe chips and gronola bars no problem, the 12v cooler should work, dont keep things excessively cold but does work i have one but rarely use it, used to use it for long car road trips but never really keep drinks cold enough for me. Now i just use insulated travel mugs Yeti, Coleman and Buckees and i think the Coleman keeps ice the longest.
  6. also why do you never see brakes on single axle trailers? I installed on mine. It was easy.
  7. The freeze dried food is a game changer. A lot of folks pack veggies. I was surprised to read about picnic food poisoning that a lot of people fail to wash them before handling and eating. Always wash melons before eating.
  8. the enclosed trailer /storage is a real plus. I wonder how they tow with my Highlander with tandem axles? Probably i would have to use my truck.

  10. Totally agree. LOL.. I have a Harvest Right freeze dryer I got on sale at Costco last year. My 82nd birthday present to myself. A game changer in making trail food and snacks Freeze dry and package up food in vacuum sealed bags.. Great meals and snacks, almost no weight and worry about spoilage ,
  11. well the small cooler bags are dangerous if not packed with ice. .Ha Ha cold beer...I like milk that does not need to be refrigerated. AKA Shelf Stable milk...first saw it in Europe. Over there you could pick the butterfat content...WOW! But of course evaporated milk can be kept unrefrigerated....evaporated condensed milk was introduced commercially back in 1864 ....Can you says "Gail Borden" Elsie the Cow?
  12. Thats bad news, that should have been noisy running. Thanks for the update!
  13. Rotella T4 is a good oil im using it in many air cooled small engines.
  14. Very nice enclosed trailer.
  15. That is what I use for camping, keeps the food & beers cold with no ice. I have one that has a small freezer section so I can freeze ice packs to take during the day ride.
  16. I totally agree that beer must stay cold, but for the main meal, a warm, re-constituted freeze dried meal is hard to beat out in the wilderness. A small butane or white gas stove provides the heat, and your canteen provides the water, and ten minutes of time to a hot meal. If the packaging is not compromised, freeze dried foods will handle any environment a human can endure. For disclosure: I used to work for a freeze drying company. tom
  17. I like my 12v fridge/ freezer For packing stuff that needs to stay cold, Yes, they're expensive but far cheaper than ending up with spoiled food and warm beer.
  18. Wow...I packed a small soft side cooler with an ice pack at -4 F and inserted my Type K thermocouple sensor inside so I could monitor the temperature without opening. After 3 hours the inside temperature was 60 F...OMG! The ice pack was solid frozen. Standard temperature for safe storage is < 40 F. What I found by asking was that there should be no air space in the cooler. Packed with Ice preferably ice from connivence store (normally 0 F of less). Food should take up short day trip1:1 ratio. Good coolers are expensive.
  19. Yep tongue weight should be around the same 10%. Tandem axles have a few advantages, like a lower deck height because you are using 2 smaller tires instead of one big one. But then you have 2 more tires to maintain. Deck over is the best use of space if you are going to side load. I love single axles, lite, easy to tow. Easy to move around. Just didn't work for me. I ran out of storage so enclosed when the best solution for me. Everyone's situation is different. Problem with any trailer, not just single axles is being over built, or buying too much trailer. The closer you can load a trailer to it's gvwr the better it will ride. Single axles will ride rougher in general, especially when empty, it doesn't have that second axle holding the first one down.
  20. Yes my Foreman is manual...I would love something tat mounted in front of ATV....
  21. I use T4 in everything now. 15w-40 usually. Started using because of the wet clutch system. Like the heavier weights for air cooled engines. Normally I don't spend the money on synthetics because I usually don't have cold starts and I change it way more often than needed. Running it in kawasaki, suzuki, yamaha, john deere, new holland, and whatever the stupid push mower is lol.
  22. Personally I would get something with a manual trans like a kawasaki bayou for pulling at low speeds. Anything with a CVT trans, that is going to be hard on belts at those speeds.
  23. Never considered two (2)axle....I assume tongue weight would still be the same as a single axle? My 16 ft bed with 2 x 6 box tube frame jerks me around even in the truck especially when empty....
  24. Late to the party like always. So if your SxS is 10ft a 12 trailer will still not be enough for you to side load the atv. I started out with a 4x8 trailer for ATV, hated it. Could not see the trailer behind the vehicle. Bought a snowmobile trailer at auction for $100, Put new deck on it. Got another machine and started side loading it. But it was tight if either had larger tires. I have since moved on to a Thule enclosed trailer. Love it so much better. Tall enough to ride into, or for side x side. If we take the side by side we take one atv in the pickup bed. Otherwise it has room for 4 atvs. It is 8.5ft x 14ft. Aluminum. Very light, nice pulling trailer. You can move it around on the concrete by hand. It is aluminum, all of it. It is 20 years old and no signs of cracks or rot in it anywhere. Best part is, when we get home, atvs are already stored. LOL I prefer a lot of tongue weight, less chance of the trailer pushing the tow vehicle around. When you look at gvwr on a trailer you need to remember at least 10% should be tongue weight. So a trailer with 3500 gvwr, weighs 1500 pounds. Leaves 2000 pounds payload correct? actually not. 10% tongue weight would make payload 2350.
  25. I've got friends in Goodland that pop in to Colorado and ride with us !!
  26. Great morning QC !! Off for a short ride then in to the A/C before it get frickin HOT !!LOL
  27. Last week
  28. I have E-Brackets and associated retractable straps so I am concerned also about aluminum floor Vs wood floor for mounting the E-braclets. Also tryingto keep trailer weight down so only considering single axle with 15inch wheels.

Hey guys and gals. I've been working on my friends 2007 big bear IRS. Unfortunately after 3 different people got their hands on it and only made things worse every time.  After months of finding just crazy problems everywhere. I'm finally at the point we're its almost 100% !!! But I'm getting a short somewhere between the 4xW switch I believe. I managed to by searching the internet like a  fiend, got my hands on an official Yamaha wire harness for the year and make. But I don't have the numbered component list and to be honest. After hours of going through and making everything so it's  easy to reference. If anyone has a picture of the referenced components. I would be forever in your debt. I've spent hours marking up the blown up diagram so it will be easy, for any possible future repairs. Please and thank you. Here's a picture of what i have so far.  Unsealed it in plastic so oil and crap won't spill or get smudged. This damn things worth it's weight in gold.              Thanks Jeff                2007 Yamaha big bear 400 IRS.       YFM40FBW
