Come on now Jeff, we all have our problems with these things, look at all the crap I went through with mine!(well, my son's quad) It is now running and running well, but it took money and time to fix, and a good service manual, get from ebay if you don't have one, but not an owners manual, does'nt tell you much. Like Wylde1 said, hindsight is 20/20. Wylde1 is my idol.....always has something proactive to say,,,,,fix your quad and hopefully that will be all for awhile....sorry your having such a rough time but you got woods to explore:yes:...........and don't think of stealing Jennifer's quad... she may be like my son and not give you a turn:wink:

Ive done that on 2 wheels many times........and it hurts......ur bike fixed yet? Pulled kx water pump and am replacing the bearings and seals, should be running soon....been rainy and so yucky here we have not done much of anything, but it's homecoming and football season with school, so been away....sorry I missed the voting. ajmboy asked me but I logged in a few days too late, they were ALL great pics!!! taking on a friends 90cc yamaquad next week, needs new rings.....LOL!!!! ( valves are not my favorite things!)

We all get together and ride all day at a friend's house so I'm sure someone will get some pics but I'll be on my dirtbike, not the quad, still fighting the son for a ride on it....LOL

ITS RUNNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and I bought a little 2 wheel reward for myself, but it needs fixing up. ( no rippin, I love them.......) tired of fighting with my son over the quad, and have not decided on which second quad Im gonna get yet, so I have time...wylde1 u hit it right on the head about riding being in our DNA, couldnt agree more... Quadnut20, how far do u live away from me??? When ru gonna bring that camera over?? Jeff, 4 WD better than NO WD!!!

Glad you figured out the problem and part, it is nice that ajmboy posted the parts schematics for my bike, and I thanked him for it last night (I've been on that page MANY times, LOL).It is sad how much the parts cost, but when you think of how often we use the bikes, it's not too bad. Now Pete,,,,,, YOU know I don't have a camera.......but I did take pics on my phone, especially how to put everything back together, and the handy dandy Polaris manual helps too......picked up the new cylinder this morning and it is stock bore (YAY), also bought a complete engine off of ebay last night, just in case.... so let the honing begin!!! The moon is done being full so no more howling either...LOL:yes:

well........rode for a few days and had a lot of fun on it...finally,,,,but sadly, I did not check the nuts on the cylinder after a few hours of riding, and one came loose....leak! I am so mad, scored the heck out of the new piston, freshly honed cylinder, and metal shavings in the bottom of the block. That was the last bore on the cylinder too.....found one locally i am going to pick up tomorrow and will be able to use the piston i bought that was the wrong size after the cylinder is honed...(they said it was stock bore, I can only hope) the piston I bought is 20 over, so we'll see. So, after 3 nights of howling at the full moon with drink in hand, I am refocused on getting this done right this time,,,LOL! what a learning lesson that was! Jeff, did u get your quad fixed yet?

WELL........I jinxed myself yesterday with my post.......bike just did'nt sound right today, sounded boggy at higher speeds....son was riding and the idle went way up like the throttle was wide open and it died right before that happened. We restarted it and thus the high rpm's.....*sigh* Any suggestions?? (I'm gonna cry:frown:....seriously)I checked and tried to adjust idle screw,,,no effect on rpm's.....I'm thinkin airleak, but where?

(me 2, but dont tell pete) Header pipe issue solved too, so now I have to fight my son to ride....lookin for a second one (miss my yamaha:frown: Cant afford another banshee, anyone know about the blasters?? Really would like a 4wd also, but cant afford that either, and Im partial to 2 strokes!!! (OMG dont tell pete THAT either) sorry, still no camera.........

Heck no, remember i'm eating canned spam and hamburger helper for the next month cuz of what I spend on this quad in a month.....no money for a camera: We have 4 wheeler day coming up in October and if I don't have my own camera by then...I'm sure someone else there will:laugh: who is asking about the butt floss??? maybe I'll just put some rtv on it...then save the money for a new PIPE, not quad,,,thanks guys...

just replaced the piston and bored the cylinder, now putting back together.....the headpipe is only held on with 4 springs, and frankly, the connection is a little loose (can be moved when pulled on, but not completely off). Aside of buying a new one, has anyone got any suggestions to make the fit tighter? (like putting something in both ends to re-fit it?) If not, I guess I go get a new one......*sigh* and YES, I replaced the springs. (and just about everything else on this thing) Thanks!!

yikes!!!!ok, I have a confession to make......this really should be posted in the Polaris forum,,,,BUT, I have been sharing all of this with you all so far......I did a "STUPID" and ordered the wrong size piston for the quad...i know, i know, i did not take the old one out before,,just AS* umed the next bore size, 20 over,,,,,well, the darn thing was sportin a 1.5mm over!!! SO, i ordered the 2mm over and am keeping the other one for the new cylinder, whenever that happens, plus i ordered a kit with the first one and needed the piston bearing and gasket set anyway,,,,lesson learned...hanginon, sorry bout the video I posted yesterday,,,not sure what happened so i took it down,,,was really cool quad in i think Canada or somewhere like that the guy had 26" wheels on it ans was pulling a jetski (one of my other loves, but not as much as TOP GUN!) wearing an old man face mask, going right through town like it was a daily occurrence, then he rode the crap outta the jetski, which was cool...it's on youtube: quadracer 26" (type in) and look on the sidebar for it, you cant miss it! I hope this thread does not seek the attention of Sgt Slaughter,,,,he scares me,,,LOL

Thanks Todd, sorry but I was impatient:yes: and did it that way, and it worked well, except for the need to replace the piston and rings now....ugh!! (low compression). I kept the old one going to replace the brushes and keep it for a spare since this is a common thing for this quad it seems (bad starter).
