  2. I would purchase some yamaha decals to finish off the restoration of my 1996 Yamaha Kodiak 400. I love this quad. I want to make it look awesome and with the help of Bike Bandit IT IS POSSIBLE!!!! Before Restoration and After Restoration Pics https://plus.google.com/photos/108172520188382569353/albums/5845177979150585825?authkey=CNPH-ebjzKOkEA
  3. Good Morning QC !! From Central Oregon!!!!! (Its not really morning anymore)
  4. Thank You!!! Its been a winter project. Now it hasnt snow since I got it ready! LOL. Its been mild here. We had a couple of 12" snow storms and a few lesser ones, but Jan and Feb have been mild. Thanks again.
  5. I thought I would share some Before and After photos of my 1996 Kodiak 400 4x4 My son in law gave us his quad as he got another one and this one has been sitting outside for a couple of years. A horse chewed on the seat, the tires were flat, and it was in bad shape but he said the last time he had it running it ran great. I rebuilt the carb, cleaned the gas tanks, lubed up the cables and parts and alot of cleaning in general. I painted the quad all black so if I have to touch it up it wont be hard to do. I just used Flat Black paint. I did rough up the plastic before I painted it. Next I want to paint the wheels black too. Notice the snow plow has a dent in it at the top? A local ATV shop got in a totaled ATV and they gave me the plow because they didnt want to sell it with the dent. It came with the Push Tubes. We fabricated the mounting parts. 6. Thanks EarthMover. After some research online today I found out what I needed to know. I jump the gun and ask a question instead of researching it on my own. I found out that the front and rear take the same 80w oil. Thanks for answering.
  7. This may be kind of a silly question. The manual I got online says to use 80w GL-4 Hypoid Gear Oil. But it just says for the differential. Does that mean both the Front and Back? Thanks for your help.
  8. Thanks for the Reply Ajmboy. Actually I emailed Rocky Mountian ATV and they said that I need Part # 6 which is called the Pipe, Outlet. It is the Spark Arrestor. It is $77.77 OEM Parts and OEM Motorcycle Parts for Dirt Bikes, ATVs and UTVs | Rocky Mountain ATV/MC I was able to get the old Spark Arrestor out. I then cleaned up the parts and hosed clamped it back together. I then put it back in. At least it will get me by until I can afford to spend the money. Thanks again for the Reply
  9. Howdy, Im not quite sure how to explain this. At the end of the muffler, inside, I guess it is the Spark Arrestor. Well it is completely loose and the screen is off and loose. But Im not sure how to get it out and how to put a new one in there. Im sure it is the original muffler but it seems in decent shape. Does anyone have any suggestions? Also, whithout spending alot of money, are there any suggestions on what spark arrestor to purchase like a Universal one that just mounts to the end of the muffler with hose clamps or screws? Thanks,
  10. What would be the Oil Recommendations for 1995 Yamaha Kodiak 400? Thank You I appreciate your help.
  11. I figured out a couple of things and it seems that I have fixed the issue. I had an air lock in the fuel line. Fuel was not flowing like it should so I loosened the hose at the On/Off switch and fuel then dumped into the the fuel filter. I also had the Intake vent that goes into the Air Filter box in wrong. It was pointing out the side next to my right leg. While driving I had a tendency to block that intake thus causing it to choke out. That Intake Vent is designed to go in the up position up under the front part of the Seat. There is a hole where that vent fits through. Wow, was that stupid of me. Oh well, its part of being a backyard mechanic. Thanks
  12. sometimes pictures are better than words ... Thanks. I will study up on those diagrams.
  13. Oxidize_Black. I found a screw on the side but at the bottom of the Carb. There is a small black hose that comes off of it. It just goes down and is not connected to anything. The screw was closed or tighten all the way. When I opened it up fuel started running out. Is that an adjustment? Then there is the larger screw that you can turn with your fingers. That is an adjustment also? Thanks. My Son-In-Law gave me the quad and I have a Snow Plow attachment for it.
  14. Thanks for the Reply. Yes, Flooding or Starving. Where is the Needle Jet Adjustment?
  15. I have a Problem. I rebuilt the Carburator on my 1995 Yamaha Kodiak 400. It Starts fine. It Idols fine. I can even putt around in 1st gear. But when I give it throttle and go it will want to die. Sometimes I can drive it and it is fine, BUT most of the time when I go and shift from 1st to 2nd and try to give it gas, it chokes out or looses power and then dies. I thought maybe the fuel line was too long because the gas is gravity feed so I shortened it. Still acts up. Is there an Air/Fuel mixture adjustment on Carb? I know of the screw at the bottom of the carburator but isnt that just idol speed adjustment? Please, Any Suggestions? Thank You
