2007 400 Outlander trouble with the shifter lever?

Hey everyone

Well i owe a can am 2007 400 outlander atv and i;m having problems with it like with the shifting into gears from like P to R or from R to H and L when the machine is on when i try to shift it makes a grrrrrrrr sound but when the engine is off i can move the the shifter easy

whats the problem is? and would i be able to fix it myself?

Try turning down the Idle. Also has the belt and pulleys been checked lately?

i did turn down the idle and what would the belt or pulleys have somthing to do with it?

If the belt drive does not work properly it can cause the shifter lingage to not work right. Just like your idle to high can do the samething.

So does the CVT have anything to do with it? and do i have to take it to a dealer for the drive belt or can i do that myself? and how do i know the width and if its not working properly?

I know this is old , I just noticed it.Maybe this will help someone in the future.
I had the same exact problem when I bought mine brand new. I took it back and the Dealer installed a new shifter. It was bent! I basically rock it a little and do not force it and it will go into gear sometimes I rock the whole Quad and move the Shifter simultaneously if it seems like it needs more force.
