A 1986 fourtrax 250 has been collecting dust in my garage after I pulled off the final drive. The engine is still good but the drive shaft u-joint and final drive are shot. I hate to scrap the thing, but I also don't want to spend more than a few hundred dollars getting her running again.

Suggestions?

If the frame, plastic, tires, and all is pretty good I would try and salvage it or sell it before scrapping it. Have you taken a look to see what it would cost you in parts new or used? Got a picture of it?

Where do start.   The carb had very few "moving parts".   Ordered an after market but the throttle cable is too big to screw in, still looking for a solution there.   It was stuck in reverse (which I was actually able to fix), the gas tank (which is plastic) looked like it was full of rust and it appears, from looking at the plastic, to have hit every tree in north Louisiana during its lifetime.  Thats the short version.    The motor will turn over and I only gave $100 for it.  I just want something I can leave at the camp and not have to worry about it getting stolen.  Hoping to just get it running without having to take out a second mortgage.

Well that's a great price! I had a chuckle about hitting every tree..lol. Can you reach out to the aftermarket carb manufacturer? Do they have a website? Maybe there have a support section to send an inquiry to about the throttle cable.

From what Im reading on the ole interweb a lot of people just drill and re-thread but thats going to leave the walls around the cable dangerously thin so Im hoping to avoid that.

My solution for the plastic is to cut pieces of plastic of a similar thickness, Gorilla glue them into the holes and cover the entire thing in a vinyl camo wrap.......assuming I can get the carb issues worked out and get it running

New to the forum and first post. I was given a 1985 Honda TRX 250 for some work I did for a neighbor. Plastics were toast, seat was toast, tires were toast, but it turned over. After new aftermarket plastics $450.00, new gas tank $129.00, new tires $350, complete new electrical $400.00, new seat cover $30.00 and getting the title in my name $250.00 I have over $1600.00 invested into it. Its not worth that much, and I spent 3 years rebuilding it, but honestly it will go just about anywhere I want it to go and I have full faith in the machine.

I reallllllly hope not to put quite that much in mine but I know how I am.  If i get it running, I won't stop until I've spent 3x more on it than its worth.

I still need to fix some small things on mine, like the Neutral light stays green all the time, even when you are in gear. Front and back racks need to be straightened, and need a new front light (will switch out to a LED light). But it is a fun trail ATV. No speed demon, but reliable.

      I have a 1990 Honda fourtrax 300 2x4
I rode the other day for 30-45 min. Switched it off and now it is completely dead..
battery is fully charged, fuses are good . WILL NOT TURN OVER ,
headlights won't turn on , No neutral, reverse or oil temp lights . Electrically it is completely dead !!! I replaced the key switch and CDI box , STILL NOTHING.
I bypassed the neutral safety switch and grounded it to the battery and still nothing !! I used a jumper wire on the starter Solenoid , the motor will turn over but not start . I even bypassed both fuses and straight wired it to see if I could get a neutral light or headlights still nothing . What could it be ?

      Hey everyone,
I’m having an issue with my 2021 Polaris Sportsman 570 – the engine keeps stalling after running for about 10–15 minutes. I’ve checked the air filter, spark plug, and fuel lines, but can’t seem to find the root of the problem. It starts up just fine, but then loses power suddenly.
Has anyone experienced a similar issue with this model/year? Would appreciate any advice or troubleshooting tips you’ve tried that worked. Thanks in advance for your help!
