I'm new to this forum. Any feedback is welcome.

I have a 2002 Honda TRX 250 EX fuel is leak around the gas on/off, reserve valve. The valve appears to be connected to the bottom of the single piece molded gas tank. Anyone ever had this situation? Any suggestions as to repair?

  • Ajmboy changed the title to 2002 Honda TRX 250 EX Gas leak

That's the fuel petcock and I have that issue on my grizzly where it leaks when in the on position. I have to change it and in the meantime I have been leaving it on the off position when not in use. Try and see if it leaks in every position. If not, it's probably the valve.

* Topic moved to Honda forum and added ATV info into topic title.

My  petcock started leaking on my old '91  Honda  300FW..  Took it apart  and found the bowl/  water trap  was corroded through.  Cleaned the bowl, coated the  inside with JB weld epoxy  and leak cured.  I'll  pick  up  a  new  assembly  when I'm  able,  but in the  meantime  that repaired one  will likely  last  years  more  now the epoxy  coating protects it from  any corrosion  by  moisture  settling in it.  Iwon't  be in a big  hurry  to  get the  new petcock.

Starting this build thread to keep up with everything on my build and hope to motivate someone!

I picked up this 2008 Yamaha Big Bear 250 2 weeks ago. A guy that I hunt with parked it at the hunt club for a year or so before I asked him if he wanted to sell. He said " fill my feeder and throw some batteries in my cameras, and you can have it". Sounds like a deal to me!
I have attached some pictures of how it sat under a tarp in the woods and when I got it home and cleaned up a little.

I generally use Non Ethynol fuel in all my small engines. I just got back from the gas station and that fuel has really increased in price since last year, I will continue to use it, even though its north of 1.00 a gallon more. That seems minor compared to cleaning and repairing carbs every year.
I was just curious as to what others are doing in regard to gas in their quads, i know a lot of the newer ones are fuel injected which shouldnt pose a problem, but i have had lots of problems with rust and jell forming in carbs when using ethynol fuel.
