Polaris 90 sportsman 2014 Transmission Rebuild

Recently picked up a Sportsman 90 with a bad transmission / gearbox. I had to rebuild the gearbox with all new bearings. It had been run underwater and the bearings were all rusted. Also tore into the secondary clutch and replaced the bearings in there. The primary (variator) seemed ok but I cleaned it and lubed the needle bearing with Super Lube. The issue i'm have is when riding it or revving it up, the front primary makes a load whine when it gains some speed. Is this normal? Other than the needle bearing in the primary, i dont see what else could be causing all the noise. thanks in advance for any help

Polaris does  not recommend any lube on the driven and secondary clutches or assemblies that I am aware of.  When we clean them we are told not to put anything on the bearings because it could shorten the life of the belt. If you give me the year of the unit is will post the factory service manual for you

Wow, thank you! It is a 2014. I lightly used Super Lube in there, partly because I use it on my Can Am Outlander primary and it will not sling out. It stays put quite well.

      Hi all, 

      I am wondering if any of you have a Clutch Starter gear from a 1988 era quadrunner 250 sitting around that you could get me a precise measurement of the outer diameter of the race the sprag engages onto, for me? I need to machine a damaged race down and install a hardened sleeve and need that measurement (it's on a different gear than the OEM one, so I can't buy and use a OEM gear).

      Good morning, I am new to the forum. I'm 75 years old and love getting ATVs back to usable condition. I particularly like the 2006-2009 Arctic Cat 250 Utility. I currently own 6. The 2006 I am working on only has reverse and low gear. The "drive shaft" in the transmission is completely stripped where the high gear would mesh. Has anyone on here replaced the shaft. I'm told I have to split the case. I was hoping that someone on here could let me know how hard it will be. I already have it stripped down to where the shaft coming in from the clutch side is the only thing left. I was hoping I could just remove the driven clutch and drive it out from there. Directions say different. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
