I have a 1990 big bear 350. It just started dying and back firing while being rode. Also tries to die out while riding. If I down shift then shift back up it runs ok for a few minutes. I've read a few things that the fuel could be to lean and needs adjusted. My buddy said timing chain. Any help would be appreciated thank you

Thanks out there, I’ve also got a 1990 Big Bear 350 and I’m having the same problem. Sometimes it runs perfect but, then intermittently misses and farts. I don’t think the Big Bear can change timing. It’s all in the Black Box. So I’m going to drain my tank, flush it and clean the petcock. Then change fuel filter and clean float bowl. 👍🏻

That’s a great way to get after it.  Make sure you clean the rest of the carburetor and not just the float bowl.  Throw a new spark plug in as well. Count the turns you unscrewed the air fuel screw out of the carburetor as well. This way you put it back exactly where you took it out.  Should be about 2-1/4 ish turns.   Good luck.

      VinDecoderz says it's a YFM350 (Moto4 350) trim YFM350ER
Is that a Big Bear? Or a Moto 4? Or are they the same thing?
I've google'd around for information, and was able to find a (czech board in english) that had a Yamaha service manual for the YFM350X series, LIT-11616-YM-37. The 'Warrior' type. I'm trying to get something more accurate. I'm not sure which manual I need. Pictures included in this post.
I'm also looking to get a wiring harness for it.

Starting this build thread to keep up with everything on my build and hope to motivate someone!

I picked up this 2008 Yamaha Big Bear 250 2 weeks ago. A guy that I hunt with parked it at the hunt club for a year or so before I asked him if he wanted to sell. He said " fill my feeder and throw some batteries in my cameras, and you can have it". Sounds like a deal to me!
I have attached some pictures of how it sat under a tarp in the woods and when I got it home and cleaned up a little.

I generally use Non Ethynol fuel in all my small engines. I just got back from the gas station and that fuel has really increased in price since last year, I will continue to use it, even though its north of 1.00 a gallon more. That seems minor compared to cleaning and repairing carbs every year.
I was just curious as to what others are doing in regard to gas in their quads, i know a lot of the newer ones are fuel injected which shouldnt pose a problem, but i have had lots of problems with rust and jell forming in carbs when using ethynol fuel.

Hi, I am having issues with my TRX350D fuel pump.  It suddenly stopped running so I have replaced all the fuses and cleaned all the terminals.  I have fitted a new pump, fuel cut-off relay and rectifier.  Still nothing!!  The pump runs when attached to a battery.  The engine will start on the choke and the filter fills with fuel but it will  not rev and dies when the choke is closed. I have power to the relay but nothing at the pump black/white wire when cranking the engine.  Any ideas where to go from here would be very much appreciated!!

      Hey I have a 1997 big bear 350 4x4
I replaced the shifter shaft and the shift arm linkage and the rod when I installed them all I was unaware that you had to line the dot on the shifter shaft with the gap on the linkage arm gap put it all back  together and rode it I can't get it to shift in the right gears  I can move the shift cam by hand and goes in different gears but with the shifter shaft in it riding I can't put it in R or N
Anyone know how to line up the shifter shaft and the shift cam s
