So im back at it again. Another headache but different manufacturer.

I picked up an 81 ATC 110 for almost nothing. It is nothing to look at but

they seem to collect them out this way so I figured I could always get my money back

no matter what the condition. The motor wasn't locked up and it had spark. Had not run in years

(always the case) I pulled off the carb and cleaned it out the best I could, lots of corrosion. Years of water etc.

after pulling it forever got it to fire but would barely idle and super rich off idle. Black smoke fouling out plug immediately.

Ordered a (yes you guessed it a Chinese carb as only available) and still super rich, same no change. Choke is open. I lowered the

metering rod as low as the adjustment goes. Turned in the a/f screw and bottomed it out still rich. Not flooding, float level good

and nothing restricting air flow, air box is not there just open carb. I ended up checking compression and only had about 75psi

I checked the valves and the exhaust valve was too tight. Loosened it up and got 110 PSI  Now starts easier but still super rich.

Black smoke when you rev it up if it revs up cant find any other way to lean it out. Have another carb on the way but not very

confident it will fix it. Any weird things to look for? Checked cam timing its good. It has elect. ignition and even tried to advance

the ign. timing just to see what would do. So what do the ATC Masters have to say?  Pics to follow.   Az

LOL, After further checking its not running rich, its blowing oil. With the compression being

pretty good im assuming its the valve seals. Little more than I wanted to mess with as everything

needs work. Just not worth the effort for what I got in it. I posted it for sale at double what I paid

for it and have at least 20 offers. Hoping just to let it go tonight. Looking at it its pretty rough. Some pics

for your enjoyment lol. Az

Hey guys i just bought a 85 110 atc and the pull rope is broken so i wanted to do a pull start to ride and check some things it drove and ran fine before the pull cord broke but now when i get towed and poo it in gear it will run but as soon as i put it in n to idle it dies and does nothing changed the spark plug what would be the next course of action

you could try just raising the idle. If that doesnt remedy it you probably gonna have to

open up the carb and at least clean it out and clean out the idle circuit. Not that difficult,

lot of tube videos there to watch. Az

anyway i picked up a starter and installed it and when it is crankling it sounds as if it is not turning over freely as i9f there was a one way bearing not worrking correctly so pulled with recoil and it pulled back so hard i ripped out of my hand so hard it actually hurt now i have pulled and kicked a lot of bikes and such but never felt anything quite like this you can hear it try and fire and kick back but still acts as though somthing holding it back does that make any sense to anybody is it flywheel key , or valves wauyout any help would be great i picked tow of these up for $100 and tring to fix so we can ride as a family thank you in advance.

I picked up this ATV that had no spark. The previous owner said he was driving it and it died and would not start. He discovered it had no spark. He replaced the CDI and the coil with no luck. He got tired of it and I bought it. I replaced the stater and now it has strong spark. Now, it starts for a second or two then dies. It will not stay running. I have checked the timing and it is spot on. The valves are adjusted correctly. I see no warn issues with the cam. I put the original CDI and coil back on it. Same problem exists. Compression is at 65 psi (has decompression mechanism),
I took off the muffler in case the issue was clogged pipes. No change. I replaced the spark plug. No change. The carb was an aftermarket so I put a Niche carb on with no change. I bypassed the fuel pump and that did nothing to solve the problem.
I don't know if this is a carb issue or an ignition issue. I am looking around locally for an OEM carb to try out but not sure that will fix the problem.
Can anyone help me solve this problem. I am running out of ideas.
      Thank you for your time
      Bill

Hey all, BruinBeater here.  Just joined up from the Pittsburgh, PA area.
Got a Polaris Sportsman 1000 and a 570 in the garage that don't get ridden quite enough but looking forward to a family trip this fall.
I'm the unofficial mechanic of the extended family.  In the past month or so I've replaced a transmission in a Chevy Silverado, rust repair on a Chevy Malibu, electrical repair on a Subaru Crosstrek, overheating issue solved on a Can Am Commander, and right now I have a pair of Grizzly and a Bruin 350 in the garage.  Both have a no start condition and have been sitting for 2+ years.

Okay so I bought this 1997 sazuki king quad from a guy and he had it for a few years.
He had it registered and on the trails last year but he said it bogged and backfired when he would try to drive it. so it sat for a year.
I bought it for 800 bucks and got it running that night and it ran great for a few days
But I parked it the other night and went to start it again and it was really hard to fire up and when I did it was bogging and idling high then low again.
So I took the carb out and cleaned it (ended up doing it twice because it was still doing the same thing)
Now today I have it running slightly better, but it is still like 20%
I have been looking it up and trying to figure it out but I can't find the issue, has anyone else had this problem? I'll attach a video of it running and giving some throttle
