I have a 2000 Polaris Sportsman 500. The Speedometer got water inside of it and it sat for a long time. So now that speedometer is trashed to say the least and i need to find a replacement. I don't want to put up the cash for an oem one so i was wondering if anyone knew any good speedometers out there i could use. I've found many speedometers i like but don't know how i'd wire it up without the same connection points. Thanks, any input is appreciated

Hey brother sorry I did see this the other day and got side tracked.  So I looked around and yes it’s a pricey item. Used they are $100 plus.  New $250, however there is a cheaper aftermarket is a universal one that fits the 500 sportsman. I found one on eBay
I asked a friend in PA that has a junk yard for atv’s especially Polaris bikes.   He’s going to take a look.

Take a look at eBay and use a few different keywords used, aftermarket etc

I double checked the years that the part number is the  same and it’s from 99 -01 so you have three years of used bikes to try and locate

If you can post a pic of yours especially if you have it removed  I would like to see the front and back.

If he’s got one he will let me know. He’s a bit of an air head so I have to stay on top of him.
as far as the other goes I’m not sure what the workings of it is. If it’s a direct wire up or by gps. Some of them come with a sensor that’s picked up by gps.  I will be in touch.

Have you ever been on the trail and your tire valve goes bad. No way to break down the wheel and replace it. A lot of you probably know about this already i had heard of it but never used one. Just punch out the old one insert and tighten down the nut

1st problem, Does anyone know where I can find a stock carb for my Timberwolf, I have tried two different aftermarket carbs and they both suck. The machine runs great until it gets good and warm, then it keeps stalling unless I feather the throttle. it will even stall while I'm trying to go from 1st to reverse or vise versa. I took it to a buddy of mine who is a bike mechanic for years, and he told me try to find a factory carb. When I look online from dealers it says "NOT AVAILABLE" anyone have any suggestions ?

2nd, The small tab on the rear axle for towing is to short for even pulling my small yard trailer, I can't even turn a little bit and hit hits. I tried making an extension which worked great as far as length, but it bends the tab and then the extension drags the ground. I have an idea of what to do to fix it, but wanted to see if anyone else has had this problem and see how you solved it.

I’ve got a 2000 400ex with a dg slip on muffler, it came with he stock muffler on it but the previous owner had the dg in a box so I put it on. I’ve been riding it for the past month and a half and every time I let off it backfires, and the other day the backfires got way louder, 2x louder! I’m concerned that I may hurt my motor? Why does is backfire??? Thanks

I'm working on my uncles grizzly and it sparks once on initial cranking then no more after that. If I let off the start button then press the start button again it will spark once then stop sparking. I was wondering if anyone seen this issue before.  Also I've never used forums before so sorry if this question is in the wrong location.
