Trailerable cover suggestions

Recommended Posts

Good morning everybody

I’ll be looking to get a cover for my Polaris sportsman touring that can be used while I take my atv to the lake for ice fishing.
min using an open flat trailer and
I want to protect it from the road salt

I know Polaris makes a nice cover but it’s kind of on the expensive side. I’ve seen some covers on amazon and eBay but was wondering if anybody has any suggestions

Thanks

Both of those covers look great! Especially for the price.  I would never think of road salt being an issue. Crazy the things we learn everyday.

I’ll be towing it minimum 200km one way to go ice fishing and it I can only imagine how messed up it would be from all the salt that they’re using in the roads here.

Those covers look good, how long have you been using the quadboss cover ?

I’m using one of this law Harbour freight folding trailers due to very limited space in my garage and I don’t think  splash guard would work on it

I ordered a cover from amazon and it’s suppose to come today

If you have a Princess Auto in Mississauga you might wanna check them out. They usually have Powerfist ATV covers and sales are often. Mind there is a difference between a storage and transport cover especially with the made in China Powerfist store brand.

Surprisingly the first link given translates to .ca and the price isn't as wild as it usually is going from .com to .ca

I got my cover yesterday, the one from from amazon. Although I didn’t use it yet it is pretty thick and it should be good for trailering.

Thanks for all the suggestions

Today I used the cover for the first time for the total of 300 km round trip. I’m really happy with the quality of that cover  and the way the straps worked and how it handled the wind. Material is quite thick on it and it looks like it should last a while

So few months ago I acquired a 01 Explorer 4x4 (think its a 350 but not sure)
Anyway the owner said it started reving very high, shut the key off and still kept running
until finally he shut off fuel and it finally died. During the run away he said the exhaust got
red hot and has melted plastics to prove it. Said some thing flew out the tail pipe, I kinda figured
it was the top of the piston. Anyway finally got around to looking at it (have a lot of other projects in the works)
and checked the compression, Shows about 40 psi. Can hear air coming out the carb while rotating the motor over.
Gonna pull it apart eventually, don't hear any noises or binding in the stroke, You think the piston came apart?
any horror stories of these and is it worth my effort and money? Don't really have any money in it yet. Thoughts? Az

I have a 2011 850 Sportsman.  Has been absolutely trouble free except for 1 thing. I am on my 4th. ignition switch. I don't know if it's that they are all chinese junk or what.  It gets to a point  when you turn the key and it will act like the battery is going bad. Cranks real slow or not at all. Put a new switch in and its fine. New one will last 1 1/2 - 2 years and its junk. I've had the Polaris brand and after market. As a matter of fact the original one lasted the lest amount of time.  Other than that it's been a perfect machine . No electrical problems. No battery problems. Just curious if anyone else has had the same issue.

Well its finally happened, its time to replace the belt on my 2011 Polaris Sportsman 500 H.O.   Is there anything specific i need to know before getting into it? Is there one brand of belt i should get over another?   I'm still on my first Polaris and plan to keep it at least another 8 years.
