570 aftermarket boot replacement (it's been a while)

First of all sorry I have been MIA here for a while, been busy with school and work.  I'll try and reply on some other threads asap, but posting this one because I just picked up a 2017 sportsman 570 before the new year and popped a boot on it going through a mud hole.  The former owner had aftermarket axles on it to accommodate the 4in lift and idk what brand they are but they're skinny as heck and idk what boot to buy to rebuild with?  It's the rear right lower boot (under the brake calp.).  I'll post some pics when I can and sorry again I've missed yall on the forum!

Welcome back Jacob. We will need pics to understand better. I’m pretty sure I know the answer but to people that don’t know would like to see so they can learn as well.

So I tried making a stock polaris boot work but both ends are too big in diameter.  I'm taking it to my grandparents farm tmr to work on some fence lines so ig i wont be hitting any mud 😪😭.  Heres some pics of it in AL where I picked it up

The temporary fix is to use the oem boot and zip tie it back on. The right way is to get the right one. Lol. if to much play is in the boot, cut a small enough line to split it but still use it. Then take silicon to patch the hole.

Sorry was having wifi trouble couldn't get pics up last night.  So I tried a oem boot and clamping it as tight as i could and it still popped off.  Maybe what@06kfx440 was saying would work but I'm leaving rn-  just gonna run it easy and keep it outa mud and if the axle breaks it breaks😆👍

I did order a boot that I think will work, I'll let yall know

But I havnt found what kinda axles is on it so idk what I'll do when I break an axle.

Got it done.  So I ordered a front end lower boot and it fit great!  Bought off amazon.  Heres some pics.  Super easy to disassemble these cv axles if you have the right tools. 

I bought a cv clamp tightener/cremper and a set of circlip pliers and pics and swapped a lower boot in prolly 2 hours or less (including disassembly and reassembly of the atv.

You can see in the first pic I was able to clamp the stock boot with a pipe clamp, but the lower end came apart and lost the clamp.

Good to see you got it fixed, I think you can also measure the axle at the 2 clamping locations for the boot and get a boot based on those measurements if the origin of the axle is unknown.

Great advice and that’s actually exactly what I did.  Found out the reason the boot popped was because the boots were too wide and rubbed on the hub.  Just rubbed until they got a hairline crack all around and started to leak.  (The other lower boot started leaking too for the same reason)

      Anyone know what the fuse terminal marked UNSWITCH  does  .  Even with the key off it is causing a drain on my battery and I'm trying to figure out  what that terminal goes to.  It's a 10 amp fuse. If I pull it the "short" goes away.  Thanks in advance.

      Its in pretty rough shape and its gonna be my first atv, I worked on bikes before but nothing to do with quads. Anyways the quad has some problems and im tryna figure out what to focus on first. So the U joints i think are shot. The bike starts first try every time ussually have to give it a lil gas with the throttle and revs right up, idles fine but its running REALLY rich 3 starts and my brand new plug was pitch black

      Its using the original mikuni carb but im not the best at fixing the carbs and wondering if there is anywhere online that would be able to either walk me through it or help me with it i didnt see a air mixture screw so it seems like im gonna half to open it up and adjust like the float and a couple other things

      Had a spark-plug break off, had to pull the head to get it extracted. Where the heck is the timing mark on the crank? Do I need to pull the stator or flywheel to find it? When I pulled the head I had the mark on the cam lined up pretty good but I cant remember if it was perfect and don't want to reassemble a tooth off and have to go back through the bear of pulling this thing back apart.

      After purchasing a lightly used 2018 570SP (300 miles on it) I noticed that the display was flashing on and off. I remember reading awhile back that this was a common problem on the 18 model. I can't remember what the fix is. It also turns over slow even though the battery is charged. Anybody know what the fix is on this issue?
