1985 Honda TRX 250 2x4

Recommended Posts

Well im at it again, took about an hour drive Saturday and made a deal on this old honda.

Might be restorable. Tires pretty dry rotted, mastercylinder broken glass and probably full of water.

Handed me the carb he rebuilt (oh no) He said ran about 6 months ago but when we pushed out of his

field there was a tree growning through it. See pic.  Missing some parts, also missing the intake. Motor is not

locked up, Has piece of plastic crammed in the head since no carb there for months. Brake cables bad, etc. Thats

part of the fun. Im sure I will be posting some questions later for you all. Stay tuned Az.

I think I paid too much but needed another challenge. 350.00 The only positive it does have a winch

(don't know if it works) These things keep me busy and actually have been making pretty good profit

also. Stay tuned Az

To me its a $200 bike all day. $350 is a lot for that bike but hopefully you can get her back to good and flip it.

On the positive side i always say the plastics and racks are always worth there weight in gold. So you will get ur money back if it does not work out.

Yes I agree on a little high, but needed something to work on as I am out of vehicles.

Have done about 9 of these things and always turn a great profit.  More of a hobby

as I enjoy bringing them back to life, a challenge and some times a pain but over all

keeps me out of trouble.  Will see how it turns out. Az

I am looking at one right now that my neighbor has sitting under a tarp. Hasn't ran in the 15 years that I have lived here. He just don't want to let it go. It looks to be in pretty good shape though. I also like to pick up projects like this. Good luck

Got it out of the paint shop today lol, Decided to take carb apart since he rebuilt it.

Nothing was right as I figured, he even jacked up the coiled return spring for the

metering rod slide assembly. Had the a/f screw bottomed out and didn't even clean

inside. Main jet was wrong size (at least he gave me old parts) Managed to get an intake boot

off e/bay for 8.50  DId I mention 1 of  the exhaust bolt holes on cyl stripped. Gonna tap it

and reinstall it. I ran a fuel hose to the carb and batt charger to it and it fired up using the key!

I guess on the bright side the elect is ok, still have to check charging. Have to shoot some pics in a day

or so.  Az

Well got another one for the elders here. I recently picked up a Honda Trx 250
in pretty rough shape. Brought it home cleaned it up if thats possible. Motor was
seized, Pretty bad shape. I unseized the motor, got it to spin over, Got it to crank on its
own with the start button. Got neutral light, but no spark. Fuses good wiring is old but looks
intact. Went to check cdi box, here is where the problem lies, I dont know the year. The last one
was under the plastic on the crossmember, this one has none. Looks like a  sticker was there at one time.
I checked the left side of frame by foot peg and nothing. Cant find any vin number. I need to know the year
to try to locate a cdi. One clue is this one appears to have 2 cdi boxes. One is a little larger than the other but
plugs look identical to eachother. One has green connectors and the other has white connectors. Is this only
on certain year model that has duel cdi boxes? I also need a download for a trx 250 Im thinking its about a 1985 or 86
but just a guess. Before changing i would like to check some voltages but need a manual for this. Any guess on how to
identify and or get a download for this one would be great. Wont let me post pics only .08 MB Down load available. Thanks in advance Az

Hi all, new to this forum so thanks in advance for the help.

I have recently brought a 2013 power steering fuel injected foreman 500.

It has a crack in the front casing and was running rough. I have since replaced the front engine casing and this has made no difference to the engine performance.

It starts and idles but bogs down and starts to die once throttle is applied.

It maybe be but it also sounds very load.

I have uploaded a video link of it.

      Hey Guys/Gals
going into my second year on new quad , my kodiak is everything and more then expected ; wife loves hers as well. We got the 450 and 700 ... made sales guy smile when we ordered two ... the question i have is the tires , i have heard many say aftermarkets are just much better , iwe use our machines in woods ,and trails and we do ride in snow, with that i think my stock tires suck.  The have plenty of tread left but i just think i could be happier with better tires ........id love comments and input
