Yamaha Moto 4 CDi Box

Being confined to the farm with the corona virus pandemic, I have started working on long abandoned projects.  I have a 95 Yamaha Moto 4 350 and the CDI box went bad (I think).  Finally broke down and spent the money for a new one.  It had the same part number as the old one, but the old box as 2 extra wires on the pig tail and not all the wire colors with the new box match the old box, so I'm not sure how to hook it up.  Have searched the internet on and off for some time but can't seem to find anyone who can help.  Does anyone out there know enough that they would try to help me?

Does the colors match up. They may be in the wrong spot on the plug

You may have to switch plugs.

I'm not sure if the same CDI was used the entire run between 87 and 95, but I know the early Moto 4 CDI's were actually the CDI used on the last year of the 3 wheeler.  It was unlike the rest of the Yamaha quad line and is quite an oddity.

Do the 2 extra wires connect to wires in the harness?  Or do they connect to blank spots on the plug?

If everything else matches. Then move those off to the side. What I would do is remove the pins out of the plug. This can be done with a pick. Something small enough to get the tab to move to pull it out. Then connect said matching colors. There should be 2 wires of the same color left. Do you know what machine the new one came out of? If so get that diagram and your diagram and match them up

Personally if i broke down and spent the money on a cdi it damn well better be the right one! Plug and play...... what year is your machine and what did you buy? Oem or aftermarket? Id it possible they sent you or you ordered the wrong part?

The last thing one would want to do is start chopping up a harness after spending money on a cdi.

      Hey I have a 1997 big bear 350 4x4
I replaced the shifter shaft and the shift arm linkage and the rod when I installed them all I was unaware that you had to line the dot on the shifter shaft with the gap on the linkage arm gap put it all back  together and rode it I can't get it to shift in the right gears  I can move the shift cam by hand and goes in different gears but with the shifter shaft in it riding I can't put it in R or N
Anyone know how to line up the shifter shaft and the shift cam s

      Hi guys
My 87 Bear 350 won't start and could use a hand.
Turn key on and Oil light turns on and then slowly fades out. (I think this is key to this) No start, not even a tick.
      battery and connections good
A Solenoid post jump turns it over
Neutral Safety Switch wire attached and seems good
It has not had a wire/switch on Rear Brake Pedal ever since I had it.
Any thoughts on some other things to troubleshoot this??

Sorry I suck at these forums so if you see this submitted under update status, my bad. Anyhow this is a new shock for a 96 Yamaha Kodiak 400 4x4 it fits my 96 Yamaha Timberwolf 250 4x4 perfectly. Little narrower are the bottom than the original but everything else is perfect. I extended it to almost a half in from full extension because I’m pushing 350 pounds.  It rides and hold me well. So if any of y'allRace driven shock. have been looking for one and didn’t want to do the research here it is.

I WANTED TO UPGRADE THE CARBURATOR ON MY 1992 BIG BEAR 350, SO I ORDERED A NEW CARB FROM EBAY.  ACCORDING TO THE WRITE-UP IT WAS A GOOD FIT FOR BIG BEARS FROM 1988 TO 1996.  WHEN I REMOVED MY ORIGINAL CARB I NOTICED THAT IT WAS DIFFERENT FROM THE NEW CARB MY CARB HAD TWO THROTTLE  CABLES THE NEW CARB ONLY HAD ONE CABLE.  HOW CAN I MAKE THIS CARB WORK ON MY TWO CABLE THROTTLE?
