Polaris 250 -89 engine noise

Recommended Posts

Hi, i have a polaris 4x6 -89 and im not sure if there might be something wrong with the engine.
It makes a kind of scrabling sound like when a rod bearing is bad, but i can only hear it when revving quite high, usually bearing fault is heard mostly on low revs.

Could it be bearings? piston? Or just something loose that is vibrating?

Could be trash on the magneto side of the case, one way bearing on the clutch making noise, might even be something as simple as a heat shield vibrating at a certain frequency generated by RPM.  Can you post a video so we can hear it and maybe help diagnose?

So the “pig valve” it’s been called many things- is on the left side of the gas tank and it can shut fuel off or turn it on- after I cleaned the carb up, redid my lines, and cleaned out my tank, today it’s working like a champ and idling well! I’ll send a pic, I didn’t put it all the way together bc I am going to rebuild the top half just because everything else was so rough I know the rubber seals are toast. But yay and cheers!!!

Hello, what is the best method for installing bearings into their race? I've set one in place and tapped it down until it was metal on metal. Is that sufficient? Surely it's not supposed to go into the race until flush? Also. does the coil spring on the seal go into carrier bearing housing not facing out? Thanks! 🙂 Seal goes in until flush correct?

My 2008 can-am Outlander 800r is having hard shifting issues. Does anyone have a fix for this ?

      Hi everyone,
Outlander 2006 400 XT i have replace the startor cover and right after i did that the oil light is on and not turn off, i check the wires and checked the oil level, everything seem to be normal quad is starting without any problem and rev just fine. i did not want to ride it since im not sure if it is faulty sensor or not so just be safe i did not let it run more the a minute or so.
I have read in the owner manual that i need to clean the oil strainer every 200hr unfortunately i never did that, my service manual that i have does not even indicate of such a thing. so i did some search around and it seem like canam split the manual into 3 parts
      owner manual
      service manual
      engine manual
I have the first 2 but i can not find the last one, part number 219100232. If someone can guide me where do i find the oil strainer so i can clean it i will appreciate it.   im going to do an oil pressure test tomorrow to check how many PSI i have, just to make sure.
      Thanks

I'm assuming, it's alright to test the engine after adjusting valves without the rear axle installed? Can someone please verify this? I'm waiting on axle parts and wanting to get that done while waiting. Thanks! 🙂

So, I bought the machine almost a year ago and have been chasing problems. I have replaced the battery, starter solenoid, spark plug, and the starter. Since having replaced those, it doesn't want to start. I checked the carb, and it was wet as well as the spark plug. And I've searched multiple forums and cannot find an answer. So, anything that helps is appreciated, thanks.
