I have a 97 Suzuki kingquad an a new carb an yet still flooding an sounds like it wants to start but won't. Flooding so much that while cranking over gas is actually spraying out the back of the carb.  I'm thinking maybe need new fuel pump an check my vaulves an timing. Also don't know how many p.s.i. the fuel pump is an can I switch over to an electric on????

If that's a new carb, it shouldn't be doing that. Sounds like a carb float or jet issue. Electric fuel pumps are for fuel injection, you should have a mechanical fuel pump. Gas spraying out the carb sounds like its under pressure.

If you have a 300, here's a good video illustrating a mechanical fuel pump and delivery.

It is possible that the fuel pump is at fault but not that likely. They only make a couple PSI which assists in bringing gas uphill to the carb when the fuel is low in the tank. When they fail it usually results in a lack of fuel, not too much.

What I suggest you try is a simple test: remove the original fuel line at the carb & get a clear hose of the same size. Connect the hose to the carb and fill it with gas. You need to support it vertically and watch the level in that clear hose.

If it drops and cannot hold that level, the problem is with the carb - float valve or float itself is bad. Sometimes it takes quite a while for the level to drop but be patient, I've seen many carbs fail this test! Worth a try and it's cheap!!

Spock58 is correct. Pulse fuel pumps aren't capable of producing too mush pressure. You most likely have some debris between the float needle and seat is the carb. or the float needle is out of place, or the float or needle are sticking or stuck for some reason. A quick inspection  and cleaning will probably solve the problem. You can retest it like Spock58 says before reinstalling it as well to see if you have the problem resolved. make sure the float bowl gets completely full and fuel and the tube is staying full also. A small auxillary fuel tank might be helpful here as well.

I generally use Non Ethynol fuel in all my small engines. I just got back from the gas station and that fuel has really increased in price since last year, I will continue to use it, even though its north of 1.00 a gallon more. That seems minor compared to cleaning and repairing carbs every year.
I was just curious as to what others are doing in regard to gas in their quads, i know a lot of the newer ones are fuel injected which shouldnt pose a problem, but i have had lots of problems with rust and jell forming in carbs when using ethynol fuel.

having an issue with the unit when running under a load up a hill or in high gear, seems like the belt is slipping, there is a clapping sound coming from the primary clutch like it releases and snaps back in. i don't think I should have a noise like that. this is a friends unit and he has already replaced the primary twice with the same result.
not sure where to look next

Hi, I am having issues with my TRX350D fuel pump.  It suddenly stopped running so I have replaced all the fuses and cleaned all the terminals.  I have fitted a new pump, fuel cut-off relay and rectifier.  Still nothing!!  The pump runs when attached to a battery.  The engine will start on the choke and the filter fills with fuel but it will  not rev and dies when the choke is closed. I have power to the relay but nothing at the pump black/white wire when cranking the engine.  Any ideas where to go from here would be very much appreciated!!

My king quad 700 runs rough when cold then won't start some times but not often when it's hot. And occasionally smoke's a lot when it's cold I'm guessing that's rings but I'm worried unless it's causing the other problems
